A person’s looks affect their politics, with beautiful people leaning toward conservative beliefs, according to findings published by two Midwestern professors.

Good-looking Americans tend to get more credit and admiration than they probably deserve, thanks to their attractiveness, thus steering their political beliefs.

“Physical attractiveness is an important social factor in our daily interactions. Scholars in social psychology provide evidence that attractiveness stereotypes and the ‘halo effect’ are prominent in affecting the traits we attribute to others,” according to political science professors Rolfe Daus Peterson, from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., and Carl Palmer of Illinois State.

“Controlling for socioeconomic status, we find that more attractive individuals are more likely to report higher levels of political efficacy, identify as conservative, and identify as Republican.”

Their findings were published last month in The Politics and Life Sciences journal. (end quote)

A lot of it has to do with personality outside of physical beauty. Conservative women tend to be well-mannered, clean in conversation, and respectfully dressed so that they by default are infinitely more attractive than their trashy, foul-mouthed, scantily-clad liberal counterparts.

Not at all.
The way .... worldly women(in and out of church) decorate themselves today is vain, as written in Scripture, and contrary to Scripture.

The bride of Christ is not at all "beautiful" in the eyes of the world - the world doesn't even recognize it!

I think this is spot on. Liberals tend to be more daring in the way they dress, no? Bohemain style, woman shave their heads, grow out armpit hair to be "counter cultural," or dye their hair purple and other colours, etc.

I've noticed conservatives drink less, do less drugs, tend to be early raisers, etc. etc. All of this would lead one to believe general health may also play a role.

The posts about "beauty vs. adornment" are rabbit trails, red herrings. They are meant to distract from the op which is fine. Who really cares. We need to preach the Gospel and stop worrying about these things. I shared the link because I thought it was funny. I do find it interesting that an "orthodox" Christian would be so upset over the op considering "orthodox" means:

Maybe there's more going on than we know. Either way, charity is the key.
