So our examples of what people looked like in the first century, is a picture painted in the 18th century, a shroud from the 13th century, and the picture of an actor from the 21st century? And somehow these all match?
I don't understand how the first image is insulting!
Nobody does... including the OP, I would wager.
I tell you what guys... Recommend the local church of your choice replace the images of Jesus with the one the British have created and see what they tell you!

The church closest to me only has the British version as far as I can remember.
This one.
I have no problems with that!
The man has some sort of corona around his head as well as a heart that's both exposed to the air and badly deformed! You should have several problems with that if you're at all interested in the truth.
Ummm...
I mean, really -- how could the Romans not recognize him when they went to arrest him? He kinda stands out in a crowd...
And here is my research...
Josephus was a Jew of the time and he had a long thin nose, as did Christ on the shroud of Turin...
Therefore comparing the two Christ looked more like the figure below, in which I used the eyes of Josephus and photoshopped them into the image of the Lord...
They matched the facial features of the time and period...
"Egyptologist Bob Brier and his team from Long Island University used a CT scanner to produce physical models of the mummies’ skulls which were then used by a crime artist to recreate their faces."

Science thinks that the face of Jesus looks like this...
I tend to agree."Science" does not. Forensic anthropologists do. There is a difference.
I'm curious what your objection is here? Do you think a Jewish man from Judea would have light brown, almost blonde, wavy hair, pale skin and blue eyes?
He looks exactly like what I would expect a Middle Eastern Rabbi to look like.
I would say that picture also resembles Tommy Chong [minus the glasses and head ban of course]So Jesus looked like my grandfather! Far out!
Your loss, friend... You'd be surprised how easily a group of free-wheeling anti-establishment hippies fit into the story of Jesus...
