{Marines vs dinosaurs? The book of Galatians is our Magna Charta.America has always been a nation built upon Christian ideals which we never fully lived up to; but we've done better than most nations. It's always been a blend of the godly and the godless, but the idea of freedom being a declared right given by God is unique to America.
?.... but the idea of freedom being a declared right given by God is unique to America.
Does that surprise you? they interpreted the Bible just like a well-educated person would interpret It today.Whoever would have guessed that was penned by slave owners?
I wholeheartedly agree. Shame on those disgusting Europeans for exporting their evil institution onto our soil. The UK had slavery for over 1,200 years. America tolerated it for 88 years and then sacrificed 620,000 people to end it. You have the AUDACITY to criticize our founders as slave owners when your country was build on the blood of generations of slaves and your country's ships created the trans-Atlantic slave trade? What about what you did to the Irish? From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland’s population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Why aren't you talking about that?Whoever would have guessed that was penned by slave owners?

Leslie, are you bragging or complaining? I can't tell.Whoever would have guessed that was penned by slave owners?
Leslie, are you bragging or complaining? I can't tell.
Do you think we should have slaves or not, according to the Bible?
As I said, some people go out of their way to find the word "slave" in the Bible, so they must think we're weird for not believing in slavery.
Are you one of those?
Please clarify your position.
Again, I have NO IDEA what point you're making. No, I don't think we should have slaves, but you do not exactly have to go out of your way to find the word δουλος in the Bible. To preserve the delicate sensibilities of its readers, English translations usually render it "servant".
Again, I have NO IDEA what point you're making.
You said something about slave owners saying we were all created equal.
That's like a Calvinist saying God's elect are the "whosoever wills."
Are you saying those created equal are only those who aren't slaves?
Again, please clarify your position.
Why is it hypocrisy?I was referring to the hypocrisy of the people who drafted the American Declaration of Independence.
Why is it hypocrisy?
I made the excellent example ... using your own belief in Calvinism ... that those they deemed "created equal" could have been only those who they deemed non-slaves.
I would think that, as a Calvinist, you would understand this.
On second thought, environment really adapts to us. It is of course packed with life forms which are influenced by humans. The life forms affect the environment in order to ''evolve'', thus causing the adaptation of the environment. The adaptation of the environment is thusly indirectly caused by humans for the humans.
I'm not. I'm trying to get you to see the mindset that these "hypocrites" ... as you called them ... could have been using. However, I am not sure this should be turned into a theology thread.

Personally, I think they meant all human beings, including you guys across the pond, who don't have such a clause in your documentation; or do you?
No, thanks.Start another thread.
So? Are we dying yet?
It shows exactly what I said: there is nothing on climate to worry about for at least another one thousand years. (I trust that you are able to understand the scale of the time axis in the chart you quoted)
