Sci-Fi Tech Advice

Would this be a good place to get some help on Astronomy? I am working on a Sci-fi story involving a Mars Mission and Mining an asteroid similar to Ceres. It is smaller, but still ice covered with a core of other material.

I also want to use it as a LITERARY device. I want to avoid the triteness and twisting incongruities of time-machines, or warp speed, or worm holes.

There will be no aliens in the story and it is set in 2050, which would possibly be in my lifetime.

If not here, could anyone suggest a place or person who might be willing to help with the astronomy details?

Unless someone here is secretly an astronomer I don't think the Writer's Guild is the best place for this kind of information. Hard science fiction is not the dominant genre around these parts.

I suggest looking for a different area in the forums. I'm sure there's a space board or stargazers club somewhere around here. If not, try looking in the sci-fi fantasy section of the culture forums.

I guess the question to ask is what help you require with the astronomy aspect of it?
