  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

With all the talk in the other Sci-Fi thread, the subject has gone completely off tangent so I thought I'd start a new thread. This tread is for Sci-Fi fans to talk and discuss their favorite Sci-Fi movies. So I'll start with some of my favorites, in no real order.

Star Wars:Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars:A New Hope
Alien 1 through 3
2001:ASO
Cube
Planet of the Apes, the original, not the downsized Marky Mark one.
Stalker
The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Matrix Trilogy
Gattaca

All the above were great! I enjoyed 5th element as a fun romp. Let's see, Space Hunter was a great comedic sci-fi too. I prefer the funny ones to the scary, but will always hold Alien and Aliens near and dear. Oh, the Thing (I think) where they're at some icy outpost and an alien invades? That was good too. Creepy.

Oh wow. This is my kinda thread.

For starters, I am the biggest Star Wars fan ever. Movies, books, collecting, online communities, fan fiction, just about everything except role playing, I've done. If there are any other obsessors out there, I'll see you at Celebration III!

Marvel. This stuff is almost as awesome as Star Wars. X-Men, Spider-Man, Hulk, Daredevil, all those other guys who haven't had movies rock. Comic books and movies.

I haven't seen all the Star Trek movies, but I watch the show on the SciFi channel all the time. And while we're on the subject of the SciFi channel, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis (TV shows, I know.. this is a movie forum) rock faces off!

More good movies...

Planet of the Apes the older version. the new one was so boringly pathetic I just turned it off.
Sphere best sci-fi horror cross over film ever! Too cool.
Frequency I was a Jimmy fan before the Passion of the Christ.
Back To The Future all three of them are great.
The Time Machine 2002 remake. I've never seen the original, but I liked this one so much I watched it twice in the one sitting. :D

I know this is the box office forum, but I just need to slip this in...

books...

Firebird by Kathy Tyers This first book was awesome. Its an IF and analogizes the jews anticipation of the Messiah. I haven't read the other two volumes yet because they're checked out at my library, but I really want to read them!

Quest For Tomorrow series by can't remember his name. The guy who does a lot of Star Trek books... ? :p

Okay, I'll shut up now. But yeah, SciFi rocks. :D
