  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Which is why you research a career potential to find out how hard it is to get an entry level position, what you need to do to be qualified for an entry level position, and what kind of future it provides before you bother with the education.
I'd really like to do some research on how region, social class, background, or whatever else affect a person's attitude towards educational attainment. For me, my family, and my peers, what you're saying here is the mantra for grad school: don't go unless you have a specific reason. Undergraduate is seen more as the minimum level of education necessary and little more than a stepping stone for people in fields which require further study.

Im excited about this landscape design course. It will be through distance and im going to do it part time. I love gardening. And learning all about plants and soil etc. that must have been an answer to prayer that I found it.

I know you can do permaculture workshops etc but they are soo expensive, my tutor was doing it, it was at least $300 per workshop module. Art classes are also very expensive.
I had thought about taking up painting at one of the churches that cost only a donation and they even offered the canvases, but the art studios near me had these classes that were costing up to $500 for tuition, presumable to pay for cost of materials, but also maybe the artist tutors' mortgage.

It sounds really cool. :)

I'm pretty sure now that I'm not going back to school in the fall after I graduate. I'll sure miss it.

The problem with art classes though, is having the studio space to work on it at home which is what I need, I don't have that. Unless I buy one of those shepherds huts or something. I literally have no room to do art, well, the painting kind. :-(

I think that guidance counselling is much lacking in high schools well, it was when I was in high school.

I didn't go to a very good high school, at least for someone like me, they couldn't fit me into a box. I think if you have good mentors but it seems you can't go looking for them, they somehow find you. God has been my best mentor, Jesus my best teacher. when everyone else failed, God was always there.

people from upper class backgrounds do not understand the challenges people outside of their social mileu face. I notice that snobbery becomes apparent when talking about education.
I do my best to understand. I may not always succeed. I'm middle class myself, but I was sent to upper class schools, and my extended family is much the same way, so I may be a bit detached.

I once talked with someone who i would never meet ordinarily in life online who said he had a private education at an academy and was so clever he dropped out and got into drugs and fornication etc. he didnt go to university but he was like this genius computer programmer or engineer but..he had a problem with looking at pornography.

I think his family was like ivy league educated and very wealthy.
I was really shocked that someone with all that wealth and privelige would waste all his money on drinking and drugs and porn, but there you go, it affects all kinds of people.

He really needed spiritual help.

Remind me to send my documents today problem is they want all my previous transcripts and certificates. Ai. I got so many they coming out my ears.

My problems is I am a very studious person and will probably remain so till I learned eveything there is to know...but I do best with self paced book learnin' as Im not really good At anything else.

The perpetual student...
I did once apply for a job at a private school. i was so intimidated. It was a girls school and everyone looked posh.
Another time it was at an academic school and everyone looked so brainy and over achieving. They wanted to know which high school I went to and of course it wasnt really one of those top prestiguous ones so I didnt get the job. I do think theres an element of old boys network in education that you cant break into if you outside that circle.

Cuaght up with a friend and she said something weird to me like she was being sarcastic or maybe joking, i dont know.

She was saying i should do theology, but I told her I was enrolling in this landscape design course and was excited about it, then she kinda said oh you just going to be a student till you retire at 65 then?
I replied no silly the course is not that long.

Some people! *rolls eyes*

I was going to go to Kansas City to become a Jesuit Priest but I noticed on the application that you had to be Catholic. After learning that I kind of consider them snobs and I really do not know if I want to go there now.
I may just ask my local community college if they will start a class to make Jesuit Priest but one where Baptist can also attend.

I was also going to retry truck driving school and re-get my class A CDL but it is too expensive and I cant get grants or scholarships so I cant do it.

Tom mix you seem bitter at something if you want to learn to be a jesuit priest Lord knows why, but if you are a baptist as you say and know your bible why on earth would you be considering that.

Is there something you want to tell us? Spit it out. If you not really a christian and dont take faith seriously, then what are you doing here? Making fun of other people?

See, this is what I want in my thread "How you perceive me".

There are lots here who do not believe in God and openly admit it do they have to leave?

Fact is I consider myself a better Christian than most here. I am not a Christian at the surface and yell that I love everybody when in reality I am stabbing them in the back and talking trash about them but I am a Christian in the fact that I truly believe and know that God is great but I am not going to produce some false image of myself as being all loving as I am human and have a sinful nature that is slowly trying to change to be Christ like but I still also like to joke around even if you do not get it.

I do not live a sheltered life like most her do. I have lived a very awful live and I am not innocent and well versed like most here who are afraid of everything in the world.

Most here are too scared to communicate with me so I just be myself. I joke around. I do not debate or argue and I do not take myself very seriously so I make answers that are fun for me unless I take the thread serious at which time I will give the best advise I know of from Gods word and not what the world teaches.

I am kind of at a loss for words as to why you think I am bitter. I am a Baptist who is wanting to become a Jesuit Priest and you cant see the humor in that.

I will state that my heart does hurt and my insides are empty. This is the only place in the world I can come to find Christian communication but yet the community are to scared to say anything of fear that their popularity status would be ruined. If you only lived in my shoes for a month you would pull your hair out, scream and jump off a cliff.

I know a couple here have been contacted and told what to think of me and I know which one and when I see your answers I know what a fake you are. I do not want to be that way. I want to be honest as to how I feel.

I do concur some people here rub me the wrong way. They seem very surface and obnoxious with their continual interjection of their opinions/
You seem tangible, and I appreciate that aspect.
