  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

well so much for VBS who is actually going back to school this year, whether it be college, evening classes, or study by distance/correspondence?

What papers/courses/workshops do you plan on studying this year?
Will you need to take out a loan or do you have a scholarship, or is it free?

I started my final semester of undergraduate last month. :) I don't know about the fall yet.

The majority is paid for through my merit-based scholarships. I usually take out a loan or two each year based on how much of the remainder my family can afford to pay.

My kids are in college and I pay for it. I do help the high schooler study and stay on course with her two college classes. I need to start back to school but I am not sure how I am going to pay for it on top of the kids' tuitions. I do get reimbursed for some of mine through my job after I complete the classes but I have to pay for it first. I may fill out the financial aid forms because maybe one of us will qualify for grants or possibly some scholarships. I may just need to get a part-time job to pick up a few extra hours. I actually could get a financial bonus if I take and pass my certification test...maybe that would allow me to at least take a few hours.

All my classes would be nursing specific...I think primarily ones that teach us how to do research and publish the results.

You probably know this, but just in case, the Expected Family Contribution from the FAFSA is the same no matter how many family members are in college. So while not all institutions are able to meet the demonstrated need of a family regardless, each student would at least have a higher eligibility for need-based aid, particularly from the government, because the expected contribution would be divided among one more person.

I'm thinking of doing a free course - certificate in money management.
Also pinpoint bible counselling, but that one costs, however, its not too expensive.

I might be able to get a student allowance if the course is full time. I need to find out more.
I have done a certificate in horticulture and that was free.
As its february its time to think about enrolment in classes before it's too late.

I am in medical school. The tuition is free for citizens of Sweden. My parents are assisting me with paying for my flat, which is much closer to the university than ours. Many others take out student loans, for their personal expenses.

I'm a junior studying for my bachelors degree. I'm going full-time, not working, and paying for it with a combination of grants, scholarships and student loans.

They have Bible study and karate class combo? Is this at a church? How does that work..? Or is the Bible study in Japanese?

Monday night was the first one. It opened with prayer, taught us beginning karate moves, and closed in prayer. But at the end of the evening he said that next week there would be a Bible study included--in English. I think that perhaps he'll draw a parallel between the focus and discipline involved in karate and walking the Christian walk, but I don't know for sure. I'll keep you posted!

I'm considering at looking into an online Bible School. Can anyone suggest some?

For what purpose? I don't have any recommendations, just make sure it's accredited otherwise your degree wouldn't be worth the paper it's printed on.

Not in my city, nope. I'd have to move.

I would suggest moving and going to a properly accredited university. Online bible schools tend to be mostly garbage to be honest.

I paid for my college and the government helped some.
Two terms are covered still, and once done I'll have 18 credits to pay for or secure funding for.
I'm dying in business mathematics since I hate remembering tedious steps but I should excel at managerial communications. But I need to file two extensions for the classes since I got really behind from business. In the end I'm just trying to always do two 3 credit classes at once since anymore than that, and I pay for it by getting behind with business or studies.

I'll be honest, I did cringe on the suggestion of moving. I have once moved before for, what I thought was an accredited school, only to find out that it wasn't over half way through the course.
The purpose is for myself, really. Not that I don't already have the discipline to read the Bible, I'm just thinking it could help me study further.

Try world bible school, its basic, multi choice but gets you into reading and studying the Word.

I will give you the link later. Each module gets marked, at the end you get a certificate, its free and there doesnt seem to be any denom bias.
