You guys should know by now I am on a desperate search for the best hard-knocking rarely-mentioned Christian apologetic scholars who know a great deal about history, besides listing Josh McDowell (he gets used too much and the skeptics are dedicated to debunking him) and Ronald Nash (gets criticized too much for using out-dated theories) I need as many more names that you all can come up with, BADILY.

Books and docuementary titles are also recommended.

Thank chya.

Dr. Tim LaHaye
Dr. Harold Wilmington
Dr. Jack Van Impe

All are right to the point, express their views, discuss the views of other scholars, accept that Christians can have different interpretations of parts of the scripture, but do not condemn those who present legitimate versions.

For Example, Pre-tribulation vs Post-tribulation.

Some believe the rapture will occur prior to the tribulation, others believe that it happens after the tribulation.

They do not disagree that there will be a rapture, only in the timing.

Belief in either interpretation does not make anyone less of a Christian.

Is this what you are looking for?

All three have written excellent books on prophecy, and have great mutual respect for each other, even if they disagree on some of the "small" details of timing.

I have read all three books on Revelation and find them fascinating. Dr. Wilmington also has a great book on understanding the bible. It is called, "Wilmington's Guide to the Bible". It is used as the text at Liberty University bible courses. Also used in their home study bible course. I am about 35 to 40 percent of the way thru it, and am on pae 450. (small print, too"):D :D

Sounds useful, are there any more that address secular claims, Jesus Seminar, Christianity copying from pagan myth?

St. Thomas Aqianis, Jerome and Augustine, they are on
top and do not make excuses or play with emotion.

Two authors that approach the subject from a legal evidential perspective are Lee Strobel and Simon Greenleaf. Strobel's first book is a must read. The Case for Christ. In it he interviews many top scholars. Greenleaf wrote The Testimony of the Evangelists, which was an examination of the gospels from a legal perspective.

Baker published an encyclopedia of Norm Geisler's articles that may come in handy. Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics.

For philosophical perspectives I would second the recommendations of the early church fathers as someone did in a previous post. You also may enjoy CS Lewis and RC Sproul.

William Lane Craig and Gary Habermas come to mind for general apologetics.

Hope that helps.
