Tis a shame CF has a maximum set on how many reps a member can accumlate :sorry:

tho it seems the "power" can increase...not sure about that.

.....

It's not really CF that's set the limit, but the Database Format itself.
Current Rep Limit is 9223372036854775807 This is the Maximum allowed as a Long Double (In SQL it's a BIGINT)
The Range of a Long Double is -9223372036854775808 to +9223372036854775807

About the only way they could up that limit is to rewrite the Forum software to handle exponential numbers and use multiple columns for the Reputation Level, or A Text Field and add a conversion routine. Neither one would really be effective though as with the number of users it would bog the forum down even more.

The Power one can rep can still grow (up to the same maximum) but it would take a user much longer to get to that level.
If I recall correctly the Power is 1/1000s of the Full Reputation + a few points for each year and a fraction for how many post you've made. An Administrator can give you the actual formula.

The Current "Reputation" levels are set to (According to the FAQ)
Here's a listing (number of reputation required is on the left). Of course, this is all subject to change at any time.
-999999 User is infamous around these parts
-50 User can only hope to improve
-10 User has a little shameless behavior in the past
0 User is an unknown quantity at this point
10 User is on a distinguished road
50 User will become famous soon enough
150 User has a spectacular aura about
250 User is a jewel in the rough
350 User is just really nice
450 User is a glorious beacon of light
550 User is a name known to all
650 User is a splendid one to behold
1000 User has much to be proud of
1500 User has a brilliant future
2000 User has a reputation beyond repute
So with 2000 being the "Upper" limit for a reputation beyond repute. well it only takes one rep from any of large reppers, or any one that's been repped by a large repper to go beyond that level :D

And why does it look like everyone has a reputation beyond repute?

LOL - yep, 2^63 is the current rep limit. Problem with reputation isn't the field size - it's how it was originally designed to work. It was set up to be an exponentially increasing function (like compounding interest). It's a bug in the algorithm which has been pointed out countless times. No one cares.

Besides, CF's been running on "auto-pilot" for years now.

No one on staff cares about reputation or blessings and the above is a perfect example. Those definitions are the original ones, created when the site was first built years ago.

One look at "Jobs" and job descriptions will prove the same re blessings - heck, no one's even bothered to finish the job descriptions in years - and that "system" is just as broke as reputation (ala the current mess - which I seriously doubt has anything to do with them being broke and everything to do with someone simply turning them off - or if they are "broke" not bothering to fix them).

What's ironic is that the most popular forums here are those dealing with - wait for it it... reputation and blessings.

It's just sad - no one in charge really cares - just a revenue generating site I guess - probably a good thing Erwin isn't part of the site anymore to see how far downhill it's gone.

Another "proof" - - does anyone see staff actually participating in the forums anymore? A post or two here or there, maybe... (maybe...)

It's just sad is all...
