  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Man and women have the same kind of smelling parts and we both smell the odor as the same such as a skunk smells like a skunk to both of us.

But if we both have the same body odor? No, men sweat more so a man is going to perspire more and be more sweaty smelling while a woman should not have as strong as smell.

Women also tend to wear fragrances which make them smell pretty.

Smelling.. "parts"? You mean the hand might smell different than the stomach? Eww.. creepy kinda.

I think I was trying to say that a man and woman's nose both work the same and smell the same way.

As for body parts smelling different. Some peoples feet stink and some don't. Mind don't but I have an older half sister whos feet will gag a maggot.

Thats not what I was asking. I was asking if women and men themselves smell different.

Not being able to smell affects your sense of taste.

Yes, different body parts often have different scents if you really pay attention. People smell differently and yes some people stink.

A nurse can walk into a room and can identify some conditions and diseases by smells. Sweet urine signifies diabetes. Foul smelling urine identifies an infection. C.diff (a diarrhea disease) has a distinct smell. Infections that have gotten to the point of rotting flesh can be identified before you open the dressings. Yeast infections of the skin folds have a unique smell. Blood can leave a smell that is hard to get out of your nose...even after leaving the room. Alcohol and cigarette smoke cause odors that seep through the skin. (I can smell an alcoholic when they are sober..and we are just standing in line at the grocery store...it is that strong). The list goes on. If the smell is bad enough, we put peppermint toothpaste in a face mask to try to mask the odor while we work.

I know of a dog that can smell if you have cancer. I also know of a dog that can smell your internals and tell the owner if they are about to have a seizure.

The reason people are burred 6 feet in the ground is because that is the minimal amount of dirt that animals can not smell the dead body and dig them back up and chew on them.

I hear wookiee's smell pretty bad.

Weird.. Never really bothered me.

I remember in science class one time we had some bottle that had a horrible odor (I think it was pure pickle juice or something..). Everyone was freaking out about it, but I just too a big whiff and had no reaction and people were amazed. Lol.

Although while that is cool, I don't have a good sense of taste either as a consequence of being unable to smell.

Having no sense of smell does have an advantage. I am rather the opposite and I'm quite sensitive to smells like a dog.

I love the sea and dream of working in a ship way out in the ocean....What dissuades me from such life is I hate bunking with four other men in a small room and smelling horrible smells like smelly feet and sweat. Exposure to sea water can make these smells even worse.

I did experience bunking with four other men in a small room for nearly a year in a clerical job that I took. It was horrible experience.

Because of my very sensitive sense of smell, I make it a practice to keep my room odor free. Always use fresh socks to avoid smelly feet.

I can smell approaching weather changes...though I believe part of it is sensing a humidity change via the nose. So "I smell rain" or "I smell snow"

Your knees ever hurt when it is about to rain?

Yes, sometime...and a big toe I broke in high school can to. That is supposed to be about pressure changes.

When I was about 14 my knee would hurt the day before it would rain but that stopped happening and now I have to rely on the weatherman.

Do you guys ever deal with sniffing dogs in the medical place that you are at?

I have a strong sense of smell too. I know what my boyfriend smells like. It's not a bad smell at all it's just him. A lot of the time I can smell things he can't too. I find that I can get used to a smell though and can't actually smell it anymore. At least until I leave. I really dislike air fresheners and candles. The smell is too strong and it makes me nauseous. I love the smell of rain though.

We have therapy dogs for patients to pet but no sniffing dogs that I know of. They might bring in bomb dogs if we ever had a bomb threat, IDK. By the time someone is admitted, we actually suspect something and are using more concrete methods to identify disease processes. I don't think any insurance will pay based on what a dog says yet. We have to actually see it in the form of a scan or a blood test.

I know somebody whos husband died in an automotive mishap. A few years after he passed she was going thru some old clothing and she caught a smell of what her husband use to smell like. It made her happy that she was able to feel so close to him.

I bet you guys don't even use leaches do you?

It is a proven fact that dogs can smell cancer and other sickness though.

Proven??? okay document, please. I do know anecdotal cases and I am not sure how you would use a dog to stage a cancer . Once a person is in the hospital, we already suspect a problem. The sniffing dogs are used to identify when a person needs to go get more tests. I am not sure I'd trust Rover to determine which chemo to administer or perform surgery though...and until you get a talking dog, he probably is kind of lousy and determining which kind of cancer it is.

I don't know if we use leaches but I do know they are used in a few rare cases so maybe. We also have massage therapy, riki therapy, and accupuncture offered in the hospital. I know wine or beer w/ dinner can be prescribed for patients who drink moderately but regularly enough that we don't want them going into withdrawal while getting a hip replacement or something.
