  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How many of you have ever called your gf/bf by the wrong name before?

Yesterday I called my wife Amanda by the wrong name. I called her my sister's name instead of her own. They're both named Amanda, and I don't think she caught it but I said "Amanda K" instead of "Amanda J". She was making something to eat in the kitchen and I don't think she heard me, as I said, but...still I felt bad.

I bet a lot worse things have happened than to me yesterday. ^_^

No doubt Freud would have a field day. :(

I called my boyfriend Derek once. I was mortified. Because never have I EVER compared him to my brother Derek, and it was very insulting that I had called him that considering my brother.

I cal my boyfriend by my brother's name all the time. My brother's name is Dustin, as is my boyfriend's. ;) :p

I have called my cat by my Bf's name. Yes, it's odd. I have called my BF by my sisters' names. I have called my sisters by my Bf's name and I always mix up my sisters' names. My mother has to call me by each of my sisters' names before she gets to mine since I'm the youngest; so it's Jeneilechrissiesie...brianna. My sisters do that too. I also mix up my nephews' names.

I have no idea why I do this so much but it's certainly very innocent. I actually talked to him about it, just so that he'd know I do this often. He's cool. Never called him a name that wasn't my nephews or sister or something like that.

I mix up names similarly. It's just easier to say "hey you!" :p
