• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

:( the thread might stop now... I haven't made many friends lately :p

HeyheyHEY! I am a friend. SCCCCCEEEEUUUUUUUSSSEE me.

I love that you attempt to school the judgmental people about love. Although we have both been unsuccessful at this, the attempt is duly noted by our Heavenly Father.

You are a beautiful soul that cares about people who are lost. Many Christians don't, so that caring is a rare and beautiful quality. It may not make you friends if the people who see what you have to say are worldly, but that's okay, cause (singing) you've got a friend in me! And specially Jesus too!

Briareos, though I only know you from your recent posts (as stated up thread I don't hang out at CF often) you remind me of St. Augustine. He was imperfect but willing to take positions on controversial issues and defend his views. He was also humble and willing to compromise. I believe you have a good heart, and to quote Augustine, "The sacred seat of virtue is the heart."

I love you! I appreciate that you seek to truly see a person even if you don't know them fully. Thank you for noting something in me that I often try to portray. You are kind :D

Such kind and noble words, thank you so much!

Oh Briareos, you are too much!

You love, you challenge, you tease and yet
can be so to the point!

I find you to be a "maverick".

oh and what can I possibly say about you to honor you with the credit you deserve, you are simply one of the most consistent sources of goodness and sound wisdom or counsel that I have seen here in many years and I have been on this forum for well over a decade though with many different names.

Dear brother briareos

I know you've been thru the battle, as more than conquerer.
Romans 8:37

Now knowing the battle belongs to the LORD. Prov 21:31

You have encouraged me (in the past), and for that I am thankful to our LORD JESUS.

The part of you being part of this forum for well over a decade with different names - well, I never saw that coming! :)

"I have been called many names, and many titles"

Yes I have been here a very long time and you have been a source of encouragement for me, you are like an ever shining star. You are very very kind and it is my honor to call you a friend and to know you on a more personal level than the forums.

I'm taking a risk with this post, because it is not a direct compliment to any one participant above, but rather an attempt to uplift all who strive to balance faith, love and uncertainty (and that does seem to be relevant to comments above).

A few hours after posting to this thread I stumbled on this blog post which struck me forcefully, and I thought immediately of CF; of all those who are so certain, one way or the other, about so many things. This is a short read but speaks strongly to the danger of absolute certainty. This is offered in the hope that others will find it as valuable as I do:

Making Sense?: Father Richard Rohr and C.S. Lewis on Certainty, Ignorance, and Our Images of God

I think you have great insight and when you speak I can tell you don't take people's word at face value you do research then put your mind and prayer to decide if it's God's word or man.....I appreciate that

You're willing to put aside your own foolish pride when it's called for. You're one of the few people I've ever seen on this forum go out his way to apologize to someone with true humility, even when it might be at a cost ...

Zeener, what we are reading here is what 'true fellowship' is like.

This is what church is supposed to look like.
All things done for edification - the building up of one another. 1 Corinthians 14:26
Using our gifts (not for self) but for others (love).
Which then motivates us to give and do because our heart breaks with joy.

You've perhaps done more with this post, than realized (real-eyes) to see
that.

You took a risk starting this, but love takes risks all the time, doesn't it?

May the LORD bless and encourage each one here, as HE is the GOD of encouragement.(see Romans 15:5)
HE wants us to encourage, but like any good DAD, HE leads by example, HE encourages us too (first).

DAD, we've all been encouraged here, won't you encourage us more? So that we can go out and encourage a sad world, a hurting neighbourhood, a dying people, with YOUR LOVE, and HOPE that so powerfully works through all of us...HOW? by us who believe (trust that it is happening without us seeing it).

Amazing Encouragement!
Amen

motherprayer, I like the way you're gentle but honest- and the way you look beyond what people say and can see the issues that lie behind.

I like your name. And I like the way you call everyone hon. I have a neighbor who calls people hon, but I think she's meaning something way different than your hon, if you know what I mean, hon.
