Wrong. Newborns do not have the consciousness to exercise an informed choice. Nor do small children.

Sure.
But, they are still sinful.

If you do not recognize that, then you are inviting big big trouble in Christian theology.

I think Catholics are entitled to believe what they wish.
Those that think a newborn is a sinner. And by that rule of sin and repentance, must therefore believe that newborn will go to Hell if they die. Because the newborn are unrepentant. I'd say those type are in big trouble as they try to argue God puts innocence in Hell.

The problem is NOT on the newborn, but is on the view of the Hell.

If a newborn died, before he could choose, will most likely, not go to the Hell. But he will not go to the Heaven either.

Ah, the legend of limbo.
As I said, Catholics are entitled to believe what they wish.

However, babies do return to heaven when they die. As do infants. And all children who are not yet at the age of accountability. And no an age of accountability is not identified in scripture. However, accountability is. And that is why age is not specified. Because everyone is unique in their consciousness development.
Children at the age of 2 are not fully cognizant of the sin redemption paradigm.
A 2 year old that passes from this earth returns to their Father. Because they were unblemished and sinless.

“The dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”

OK, I am going to ask you something in-depth, hope you would answer.
An infant died would "return" to the Father. Does that mean the life of the baby came from the Heaven? Does the life have a history in the Heaven?

Hope your answer is not "I don't know", or "the Scripture does not say." Both you and the Scripture do use the word "return".

The life of the baby came through the God given reproductive processes between one man and one woman, as was made possible "in the beginning".

A living soul inside us is God given. How else would a soul return, per the scriptures, from whence it came?(per the scripture)

So, what if I say: A baby died would "return to where it came from"? Is this acceptable to you?

In other words, what and where the baby was before the conception, would still be what and where he is after the death. Right?
