  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hello all,
I wanted to do some charity work and I did some research and found "save the children." It is a good and legitimate organization. I support a little boy in Mali, Africa who is learning how to be a farmer. In Mali the average annual income is less than $250 so my $35 per month over a year becomes a good chunk of change. He gets an basic education, medical treatment, and I think they help out his villiage with any surplus. I bring this up because I know we love to help others but are sometimes unsure how to. Well, this is a great way to take alittle bit of suffering out of the world. They have a web site which savethechildren.org(atleast I think it is .org) if anyone is interested.

Rogsr- Bless you for your compassion! It saddens me that so many people see all these problems in the world and just become overwhelmed by them, decrying "What could I possibly do to make a difference? It's too complicated!". I have prayed that people can move beyond thier moral convictions of believing the cause to be worthwhile to be convicted that the cause is worthwhile and they can be involved! It really isn't so hard to do something, if everyone "sacrificed" a trip to Starbuck just one time a week that money could go towards providing medication for HIV/AIDs infected children! There is lots of little things that can be done that can make a huge impact on another person life, we don't all have to be Mother Teresa's or Martin Luther Kings's and that's ok---we can still do something.

My wife supports a child in South America via a group called Compassion International. It also claims to be a Christian group, though I don't know that much about it.

God has blessed the western nations with so much. Surely we can help others. It is especially good to help victims of persecution and genocide as in Sudan or parts of muslim Africa. There are Christian adoption agencies too.

I support a child through Compassion International. They definitely are a Christian organization. You can actually learn more about them through www.compassion.com.
