We know that Satan sets the course of the world;
Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
We might surmise that his had has been working for centuries to collectivize the world. Now that most of the tools he would need have been developed, he may have been working to get us to cripple ourselves so that we do not pose a threat to his plans.
At any rate, it is an interesting exercise to consider what events in history he may have influenced to bring us to this point.
