Ok, I have some time to respond. However, you brought up a lot of good points. Rather than trying to tackle them all at once I think it would be better to break it apart and tackle the parts one at a time.

But why would Satan prefer to have the truth plainly visible to all humans and then try to distort it rather than simply obscuring the truth entirely so that no one can possibly know? There is no way the father of lies would prefer to have the truth plainly visible to all.

The answer to this is that Satan does not want to hide the truth. He wants to distort it. His ultimate goal is not to cause people to die in hell (although that is part of his motivation), he wants to dethrone God and take all the worship for himself.

You are taking Isaiah 14 out of context. Back up to verse 4 and you clearly see that it is addressing the king of Babylon, whom the Jews hated.

Therefore I reject this claim:

Man corrupting the Bible is not the topic. That is only the fact that I'm leveraging in order to make my point. It's as if I'm trying to show that the earth is not flat, and in doing this I start off by talking about seasons and then you all act as though seasons are the topic of discussion.

On both pages of this thread I clicked to unhide hidden posts from members on my ignore and ctrl+F searched "Satan" and "devil." Only AV1611VET even bothered to use either word. No one else used such a word other than in quoting me. But AV1611VET is an inerrantist and thus disputes one of my premises (despite not addressing it) and also his question was formed in an incompetent manner suggesting that he did not even understand the argument. Seeing as how no one else even discussed Satan, my argument has been left unaddressed. In debate, this is taken as an admission of defeat.

So at the point that was written, no one had even addressed my argument. Soon after that, jason_delisle started insulting me and accusing me of dishonesty, then he changed his tune when you stepped in.

He made two fallacious arguments but at least he tried to tackle the issue at hand. Both arguments are replied to by me and I cite the reasons they are rejected. Feel free to show me where I am wrong.

why don’t you just enlighten all of the people that have attempted to answer your question with the “correct” answer?

There is no correct answer. It is completely nonsensical for God to put up a hedge of protection around the Bible to prevent Satan from corrupting it while at the same time allowing scribes (who are presumably praying for God to help them make a perfect copy) to corrupt it hundreds of times. It is also nonsensical to believe that Satan has the ability and permission from God to corrupt the Bible and yet he chooses not to.

So then either you believe that Satan has succeeded in corrupting the Bible, or else you believe that faith in the scriptures necessarily requires acceptance of a nonsensical premise.

If you admit that Satan actually has corrupted the Bible, then boy are you in trouble. So premise 4 must be, "God manually prevents Satan from corrupting the Bible."

But then why doesn't God also manually prevent scribes from corrupting the Bible, especially if we can agree that they are probably praying for such divine intervention (John 14:13)? This would not be a vulgar miracle, nor would it be the overriding of free will. I know that some Bibles will be corrupted by man - I could easily type one up myself and change some things - but why has God allowed the corruption of the text to get so bad that there is not a single perfect copy on earth? And how does this reconcile with Psalms 12:6-7?

I agree with your "premise 4". When reading Job, and also the New Testament, I see that Satan is limited by God's permission. So, if God doesn't want Satan corrupting our Bibles then He won't let him do it.

Now this is where knowing the spirit is more important than the letter. Many scholars, including myself, understand that Babylon is an alegory to describe the "world". Particularly anything that is "worldly" or not "heavenly". Satan is the ruler of anything that is not from God and thus making him the ruler of all that is "worldly". In this scripture, the letter literally is talking about the King of Babylon but the spirit is describing Satan who is the "King of all that is worldly".

I agree with your "premise 4". When reading Job, and also the New Testament, I see that Satan is limited by God's permission. So, if God doesn't want Satan corrupting our Bibles then He won't let him do it.
