It's not the Santa Claus. It's bringing something positive that can make our kids have an illusion for Christmas in this wicked world. Almost everything is dieying these days. Santa is just one of the tools we use to celebrate something as important as Christmas with a little joy and a little fun. Just look at the innocense of a child trying to behave and giving his best so he gets something for Christmas. Santa is in all of us it's the desire to make someone happy not only with material gifts but with love and joy.

I am wanting to see what others think about Santa Clause. I grew up with doing the whole Santa Clause bit but also knowing the true meaning of Christmas. But my husband never did the Santa Clause bit in his family and not that it really bugs me but yet it does becaue he is saying that wehn we have kids we won't be doing the Santa Clause bit at all. To me I feel that you can do both as long as you emphasize on the true meaning of Christmas. To me it builds imagination with kids and we let them imagion other things so why not this?

Just wanting to see what others feel, and say about it. :pink:
That's the way my parents raised me...and I turned out just fine.

I go by what I said last year - the concept of Santa Claus is irrelevant and pointless. If you are a Christian, the holiday is supposed to be about Jesus, not a gift-buying frenzy or myths about some stranger creeping into your house at night. Tell your kids stories about the religious figures that inspire you, not lies. If the story of St. Nick is very important to you, then use it without getting obsessive or detracting from the meaning of Christmas. I am all for secular Christmas, but even then I don't understand why someone would not want their kids to know who was bringing them the gifts. And it is funny that we tell children not to accept things from strangers, yet we convince them to expect presents from someone who climbs into the house under cover of darkness. :pink: Weird. We never had Santa in my house, for which I am thankful - I don't appreciate the materialism that has taken over the holiday, and to me, Santa is just another sign of how we cheapen every holiday by focussing on the commercial.

Our family does Santa Claus, in fact my husband plays Santa Claus at the local mall and does home delivery. I dress as Mrs. Claus some. We have always explained to our kids (now older) that Santa is the spirit of Christmas. We have had many occasions to read the Biblical Christmas story and witness to unsaved because of who we are. We in fact had a chance tonight to tell a child that there was someone else who could give them a better gift than any on in the World, and that was Jesus who gave his life for them. I always explain that Santa is the spirit of giving.
