  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am joining because my husband transitioned to a better place on July 27, 2013. It is becoming more and more real that he is no longer here. I have tried to delay the reality by saying "he is still in the hospital." He spent so much time there, sometimes being admitted twice in one week that I had gotten use to being by myself. Well, it is hitting hard that he won't be coming home. I am crying more, but it doesn't last long, because I am sure he is with the King. He was an usher in our church for over 20 years, he sang in the Brotherhood Choral and was on staff at church after he retired, part-time. He was a true servant encouraging members as they came to the church. To those who passed by, he would donate for a cup of coffee or a meal. He always tried so hard to please others, often left with a feeling he could have tried harder. He was a Father to my children, as we were together for 36 years. It was our second marriage. He was there for the birth of my grandchildren, He took my children off to college. He walked my daughters down the aisle. He was there for my son's wedding. Even though he had children, they were distant still under the influence of their Mother. They never got to share the many memories of holidays, his birthday, Father's day. I solicit your prayers for them as they sort out their feelings. He was very, very good to us and to so many others. He died of Lung Cancer. He was diagnosed in January, 2013. I pray for all who have lost loved ones. Our comfort is that they have finished the race and they have reached their goal.No more pain, nor more chemo, radiation and being poked and over medicated. My husband has a brand new body and I thanked God everyday.

Hello there.....Firstly I hear your pain...and have been in exactly the same place...Your mind is full of love for this man..your husband..father of your children..grandfather to his grandchildren and it is also full of all the horrific things your husband went through until he succombed...I know what this is like..the pain is raw and the loss is heavy and it will be a long time before you can make sense of any of it....You have only just started to grieve....Just know that God is with you and He does care..He WILL support you so lean on him at this time..trust that He will see you through all of the days to follow (prov 3:5...Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding) Iwish I had found this place a lot sooner..I remember visiting here a long t ime ago and never came back..If I had stayed I would have had more support at the time when I lost my husband...Secondly...Welcome to Christian Forums...there is much here to discover with the different forums and people are extremely friendly..supportive and encouraging....take the time to check everything out and use the resources which will be beneficial to you...Big hugs for you my Sister in Christ....

..take care.. :)

Thank you for all the wonderful messages of encouragement. Since I posted, I have grown closer to the Lord and He has strengthen me day by day. I celebrated my 74th Birthday on Saturday, beginning the "FIRSTS" occasions without him. It was a blessing as I dined with friends from church at a beautiful restaurant and they all sang Happy Birthday Friday night. On Saturday, my daughters took me to breakfast and afterward shopping. On Sunday at church, unexpected gifts from members. I really believe Clint would be pleased. I didn't go out Friday as this gloom came over me. I cried all day. He would be out searching for the perfect card and gift and would always put it on the dresser during the night, so when I wake up, it would be on the dresser. I look at the dresser and there was no card and I cried again. But I gave God the Glory on Sunday Morning that I had made it through my "FIRST", and I thought about what someone told me who had a loss, that after the first time, it gets better.
My daughters, (my sons live at opposite sides of the country) have given me so much support, and my sons come in when they can, to check and see what needs to be done in the house. I am truly blessed.
