• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Phil 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Colossians 3:17
All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

I agree that my bottom line is not the same as the Catholic Church.

While there was correction to what I posted on salvation, I do not believe I stated anything outside what the Catholic Church believes. I certainly did not intend to do so.

As far as to the order of the Churches I listed, a time I posted, I don't think I did intend anything by the order. However, as I look at the order again, I see that it reflects my personal view of the order of schisms after 787. I meant no slight or offense by the order.

Its interesting the order you place those Churches in "your" bottom line. I don't believe your bottom line is the bottom line of the Catholic Church.

So, the Church is divided EO, RCC, Anglican and apostolic Protestant (primarily Lutheran).

Mark, this is a Catholic forum, you can not preach or teach

you are more then welcome to fellowship and to ask questions to learn about the Catholic faith

I do not say this with bitterness of hate, but this is the only part of the forum that is Catholic and I would like to keep it that way

As to whats bolded. None slight or offense taken and thats what I thought the order might have presumed.

As your "bottom line":

There can be no disunity in the true Church without sin. ~ Bishop Kalistos Ware.

Disparity and division is not of God, so not of the true Church. There is no disparity in heaven or between members of the Trinity.

Divisions we experieince are mans own doing. Its helpful to keep the perspective that the true Church is no different than the body of Christ and if you will, there can be no division from him. Only rejection of him.

Parts that are divided have cut themselves off.

The true Church remains one and is never defined by who is in it or has left it, but only in he who it comes from who alone is perfect and deserving of all our love. ;)

so faith plus works are necessary for salvation?...but these works are inspired by the grace of God?

yes, inspired and helped through. In a way, good works become filled with grace, and thus they become supernatural works, especially with regards to the sacraments. They are not mere human works. But supernatural works since they are infused with God's grace or are helped and guided by it. No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

Since God's grace is the starting point of good works, good works obviously have great involvement within the scope of salvation since they are all connected to God's saving grace and the uplifting of the Holy Spirit.

Saying works are just a human fruit of faith was anathematized in the council of Trent.
