My friend, I first urge you to use the KJV version as opposed to the NIV, which is corrupted by Satan.
KJV
Romans 8
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Notice that God says that after you believe in him, only then can you call (confess) out Jesus. But calling out his name is not necessary for salvation, only belief. Since the belief in Jesus as your Messiah has already gained you your salvation, it must also mean that those calling out his name after the belief receives salvation since they already got it by believing.
Confessing "Jesus is Lord" as a necessity for salvation means that your works (the act of confessing that Jesus is Lord) has earned you salvation, which is definitely not biblical. Only belief in Jesus is your Savior will gain you Salvation through Grace.
Your point of view is called a Lordship Salvation, which is unbiblical and wholly based on the corrupted Wescott and Hort translations.
I say to you that would be calling God a liar if what I said wasn't true. As I quoted in my original message, God said that you only need to believe to be saved.
Notice that first, you don't have to confess "Jesus is Lord". That is one corruption of the NIV and other Wescott and Hort based translations.
Here are quotes that explains it better than I can:
"The Bible never requires us to make Jesus our "Lord" to be saved, only trust Him as our Savior (John 14:6). Peter shows clear evidence of this when he professed, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God" in Matthew 16:16. Peter never confessed "Jesus is Lord." Rather, Peter received Jesus as the Messiah. Genesis 15:6 simply states that Abraham, "...believed in the LORD; and he (God) counted it to him for righteousness." Romans 4:5 plainly states, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." It is our faith upon Jesus as our Savior, because of the blood that He shed for our sins, that saves us (1st Peter 1:18,19). Making Christ the Lord of our life is a matter of Christian obedience; NOT Salvation. If one had to make Jesus the Lord of their life to be saved, then Lot, Samson, and Solomon would all be in Hell today. What about Ananias and Sapphira? What about the carnal Believers at Corinth? What about 1st Corinthians 3:15?"
"Listen to the message of Ephesians 2:8-9, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast. How many Scriptures does God need to put in front of our face before we get the ideasalvation is not by merit. Knowing that a man is NOT JUSTIFIED BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and NOT BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW: for BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW SHALL NO FLESH BE JUSTIFIED (Galatians 2:16)."
