If we look at the US gun laws, contrasting causes want to leave people unprotected at home, except for police work and well tested license holders. Texans dislike like this from their traditions. Others want to save school children from attackers. How much does one give up to trust?

Then there are frozen embryos, some couples discard left over embryos. There is a balance between having children and discarding some when they are still embryos.

Then there is the rate of suicide among homosexual boys... and for them, large scale law changes are happening to make them feel better... so they live. But at the expense of some freedom of speech, and freedom of religion and enterprise.

Arguably it should not need to change the established, very good, of human rights and freedoms. It is like cutting and pasting a bit of communism into the democratic system and constitution. The Jehovah's Witnesses were given the right not to take blood transfusions. But a bulky part of society, is under threat of loss of freedoms and rights. To save a few people. Should we have to lose free speech or can it be done some other way as with the JWs?

OK...the ACL is responding to the TASMANIA LAW REFORM INSTITUTE report: Reforms needed to address LGBTQA+ conversion practices in Tasmania It is recommending legislation be drafted concerning the harmful Conversion Therapy. Specifically the report recommends:

• Provide a clearer and more binding legal framework for existing professional health guidelines relating to the care and treatment of conditions relating to sexual orientation and gender identity. Guidelines would be set by a chief public health officer and be updated to reflect best health practices and evidence over time. For instance, declared guidelines would specify which medical professionals can assess and treat conditions like gender dysphoria and what procedures they must use.
• Stop unregistered and unqualified people from purporting to assess, diagnose or treat other’s sexual orientation or gender identity as a fault or dysfunction. For instance, convincing someone that they are mentally ill because they are attracted to someone of the same sex.
• Limit the harm caused by misinformation that aims to convince people conversion practices are safe, effective and necessary. For instance, circulating false and misleading pamphlets promoting pseudo-medical practices which are known to cause harm to vulnerable LGBTQA+ people.

Smoking has ruined health and lives, and is legal.

So has drinking.

Plus . . . food abuse has ruined health and lives.

Instead of maturing in how to love, ones take shortcuts to using sex for pleasure; and so they miss out on finding out how to love. And their children grow up not knowing how to love; and so they become desperate for pleasure and excitement so they get into many sorts of substance and sexual pleasure seeking which can not fulfill and satisfy us.

You can make them feel good, but in less than God's love any of us is weak so things can get to us. We might rig circumstances so we feel good, but deeply we are not safe while depending on pleasure and social acceptance, and worrying about how wrong people could get control of our treasure pleasures which God is not committed to protecting

But God's love keeps us safe and satisfied so we are not fools for pleasure.

I will offer more of what I mean, using Christian scripture >

"We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one." (1 John 5:19)

Therefore all in "the whole world" are wrong . . . not only a few members of some "minority" whose preference for pleasure is against God. There are many who prefer pleasure more than God, as it is written how ones "worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator" (in Romans 1:18).

Many seek and are attentive to creature pleasure, and not submitting to God in His peace with Jesus Christ's "rest for your souls" (in Matthew 11:28-29). And so they are in weakness so they suffer deeply >

"'Destruction and misery are in their ways;
And the way of peace they have not known.'"
(Romans 3:16-17)

Because in their weakness for wrong pleasure, they also stay weak for deep pain and suffering! And they confuse their wrong pleasure with love. Not all nice feelings are genuine love.

But God's love is almighty against fear >

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment." (in 1 John 4:18)

But to Satan it is written >
"You who weakened the nations!"
(in Isaiah 14:12)

You can see for yourself how many people are weak in their worry and fighting to get their wrong and foolish pleasures. Their attention is not first to God in His peace so perfectly satisfying and emotionally kind in them.

Meanwhile ones tell wrong people that they can not get free from their slavery to wrong pleasure drives, but for anyone who trusts and obeys Jesus >

"the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (in Philippians 4:6-7)

God Almighty is easily able to clear any wrong person's heart and mind from dominating drives for foolish pleasure which only keeps someone degraded and weak to also suffer ongoing pain and confusion. So, please do not discriminate against any wrong person by saying God does not want to change and free him or her. Love them, instead, by telling them the truth of how God alone is able, through Jesus > "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (in John 14:6)

However, this evil world has many ways under Satan's sway, which do not work.
