The Bible says he is Lord of the Sabbath and when the priests tried to charge him with breaking the Sabbath he proved himself of that.Did not Jesus demonstrate that?
1 John chapter 1 verse 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
James chapter 2 verse 10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
1 Timothy chapter 1 verse7, 8
They want to be teachers of the law but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.
We know that the law is good if one uses it properly.
Galatians chapter 3 verses 24,25,23
So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law. Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed.
Jesus also said the sabath was made for man not man for the sabath.
I have a hard time logically thinking that man must be a slave to the Sabbath when he should be master of it. Usually when something is "made" for you then it is a tool that you are master of but those who promote the Sabbath aren't considering that they are slaves to it when the Sabbath comes it controls their actions entirely they must adhere to its mastery.
Man wasn't made for the Sabbath, therefore the Sabbath isn't his master.
Is lighting a fire, lighting a fire? This uncalled for idea of not even lighting your stove is not scriptural is it?
Now you have quoted the above about not lighting a fire. What did it take to light a fire? Is it the same as lighting a stove today? Did it say that a fire could not be burning? Did not Jesus come and clarify what keeping the Sabbath was all about? Was it necessary to light a fire? If I don't used the things mentioned would that mean that other person would not work on the day?
Lord = Master.... it is that simple. If you aren't a Master/Lord then chances are you could be a slave instead.I have a hard time logically thinking that someone must be a "master" of the Sabbath. God never said anything about being a slave to Sabbath--
Sabbath was meant for just the opposite--to be delighted in, to keep us from being a slave to our work habits. To be master of the Sabbath seems like a weird thing to say--it is given to us--a gift--- gifts are to be enjoyed. We take mastery over the slavery of work, we rest our minds, our bodies and rest out souls in the love of our Creator on Sabbath. Sabbath is freeing ourselves to it, not being a slave to it. The Sabbath was made for man--not man for the Sabbath--it's self-explanatory.

So we are allowed to fire up a barbecue pit on the Sabbath?Back to your lighting a fire example, let me give you another example, concerning BURNT offerings on the Sabbath that required lighting a fire;
Numbers 28:10
This is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, besides the continual burnt offering and its drink offering.

If your husband and you are unable to NOT keep the Sabbath then you are SLAVES to it, it is that simple. I am not a slave to the Law I don't have to keep the Sabbath because the Lord of the Sabbath doesn't require me to do so. One doesn't marry the Law one is a slave to is, or in bondage to it.OK----maybe that's a Y chromosome state of mind thing--Christ is Lord/Master of the Sabbath--we're just supposed to enjoy it--must be a hard concept for the macho, maybe. I am neither Master nor slave to my husband--I just love him--it's that simple--but maybe that's too difficult an example to grasp.
Isn't that what the one riding a black horse in Revelation 6 is holding? If your husband and you are unable to NOT keep the Sabbath then you are SLAVES to it, it is that simple. One could call the Law a yoke too
10 Now therefore why do you put God to the test by placing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?
You do know what a yoke is? It is to put animals to work, like slavery.
Deuteronomy 28:48
Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which YHWH shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things:
and He shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
[Acts 15:10/Reve 6:5]

Actually I don't have a problem relaxing for the most part as I don't have any task set upon me on Fridays to prepare for a Sabbath to keep. I can relax on Friday and Relax on Saturday or work not caring either way for fear I will be in sin doing so. I find it harder to relax when you are worried about sinning myself.Have a hard time relaxing, do you??---A yoke--yes--that's why God made the Sabbath for us, to caste of the yoke of hard work and relax and enjoy His company unfettered. Quite a treat really, to bad you can not enjoy it. And my husband is not a believer--but he is very sweet to try and make my sabbath a happy one and tries to not "do" too much on sabbath. He's a sort of a Christian, not any denomination, has never gone to any church much. But God has been working on him.
By your reasoning, I suppose if you are unable to take the name of the Lord in vain, you are a slave to that commandment.

I'm not the one here trying to get people to work twice as much on Fridays at all.
Since I'm retired, I get to rest every day all day.Actually I don't have a problem relaxing for the most part as I don't have any task set upon me on Fridays to prepare for a Sabbath to keep. Did you read my post concerning "yoke" here?Have a hard time relaxing, do you??---A yoke--yes--that's why God made the Sabbath for us, to caste of the yoke of hard work and relax and enjoy His company unfettered. Quite a treat really, to bad you can not enjoy it.

I don't mess my part of the house up to begin with. I also don't have to worry about being an accomplice to breaking the Sabbath by having people visit me on that day who drive cars through traffic lights that require electric company employees and policemen and ambulance services to be on call on Saturday.Really??--I suppose if you got company coming you leave your house a mess? We have company coming--it's a joyful thing!--Soooo---take His name in vain much lately--just to prove your mastery of course?
Just don't retire to a deserted island and lose track of time or you will never know what day is the SabbathSince I'm retired, I get to rest every day all day.
Did you read my post concerning "yoke" here?
How do the Jews view that one riding a black horse with a Yoke in his hand?

Reve 6:5
And when it up opens up the third seal, I hear the third living one saying "Be coming'! And I saw and Behold!
A black horse, and the one sitting on him having a yoke/zugon <2218> in the hand of him..
