Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy

Jesus came to save mankind for our sins and show us the only way to the Father.

Jesus teachings are the pillar and ground of truth. Not a single person will come to God except through Jesus.
Jesus did not come to destroy the law and the prophets, but to fulfill.
He is the fulfillment of the Old Testament and raised the standard of obedience to make it an issue of the heart, not just the outward.
Adultery is raised to even looking and lusting, murder is raised to hatred in the heart.
In Hebrews 4, the Sabbath is raised to the very person of Christ, He is our rest every day, not just on Saturday.

Sadly, many Saturday Sabbath keepers will freely condemn those who worship on a Sunday while they don’t keep the Sabbath either as God outlined in the Old Testament, in Numbers 15 there is a story of a man who gathered firewood on Saturday and kindled a fire. He was stoned for breaking the Sabbath commandment.

Saturday keepers kindle a fire routinely, it would be unpleasant indeed to live very far North of the 30th parallel and have no heat from Friday evening until Saturday evening, in fact, North of the Arctic Circle it may not be possible to even survive.
And especially so in the winter when the sun sets on the Friday evening and does not come up for a moth or more. This long (six week winter day) is another example of changing God’s law by man, the scripture is clear, the Sabbath starts at sundown on Fri evening and ends at sundown on Saturday evening.
In the summer there is no sundown for nearly six weeks, in the winter there is no sunup for nearly six weeks, so, no Sabbath at all unless we change God’s law as all Sabbath churches do.
Many Saturday keepers enthusiastically condemn the Pope for claiming to have the authority to change the day of rest and worship from Saturday to Sunday.
While the Pope claims to have changed this day, there is evidence that gathering on Sunday was the practice of the early church long before the Pope came to power.
Is the Pope to be believed about all his claims?
Why is this claim given more credibility than any of his other preposterous claims To include infallibility.

The Pope will be condemned for his godless claims and conduct, but If any condemns him and also changes God’s law, even a little, such as changing the time of the beginning and ending of the Sabbath above the arctic circle, or claiming fire is acceptable in the winter, or it is acceptable to kindle a fire in the engine of the car, or it is acceptable to turn on a light, thereby kindling a fire in the lightbulb,
Jesus’ words in Mathew 7,1 will be applied to them,
Judge not that you be not judged, for with the judgement you judge, you shall be judged. So judging and condemning the Pope will bring judgement on all who judge thus, and yet do the same. (Roman’s 2:1-2)

Buying and selling is also forbidden in the Old Testament, so when rent or utilities or anything else is predicated on a thirty day month, buying and selling cannot be avoided unless one becomes a hermit and a recluse, without power and without heat and never traveling anywhere on Saturday.

This is not at all what Jesus came to do. We are to draw water with joy from the wells of salvation. It is not wrong to believe we need to keep Saturday, however it is very wrong to judge others for not keeping Saturday, especially if one does not keep it either as outlined above.

The story is told of two Jews who left Jerusalem and migrated to the opposite side of the globe and ended up in the same city. One claimed to be keeping the Sabbath on Saturday, the other claimed to be keeping the Sabbath on Sunday because of the international date line, both were right. God is not the author of confusion but of peace. Can we grasp the reality that as the church of Jesus Christ, our rest is in Him, not on a day of the week as outlined in Hebrews 4.

The outsized emphasis on the fourth commandment is often at the expense of the other nine, for example,

#7, Thou shalt not commit adultery
Jesus said if a man divorces his wife and marries another, he commits adultery.
Many Sabbath keeping churches disregard this, and the divorce and remarriage isn’t significantly different from the atheists, statistically.

And then the ridiculous doctrine that going to church on Sunday is the mark of the beast and all that go to church on Saturday have the seal of God as described in Revelation 13.
The possibility that increasingly godless secular governments will make laws to forbid buying and selling on Sunday is not reality and is pure delusion.

It will never happen. The godless Pope simply do not have the amount of influence or authority to institute such a universal law.
However, as with most false prophecies, there is never a date or any other evidence given whereby it can be disproven. It is always in the future, 'someday' it will happen.

Another law Moses gave is in Deuteronomy 22:5, forbidding cross dressing which is an abomination to God. Sabbath keeping women routinely dress in that which pertains to a man, (pants) just as atheist women do. A hundred years ago, all Sabbath keeping women believed this and there was no cross dressing. Completely disregarding Jesus word, that He did not come to destroy the law and the prophets, He came to fulfill and not a single punctuation will fail, all will be fulfilled. Anyone who loves the truth must be concerned, because many Sabbath keeping churches are also participating in the falling away as described in II Thess 2.

And in James 2:10
The Holy Spirit inspired James to write,
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
He writes, ONE point, which includes buying and selling, kindling a fire and anything else forbidden in the Old Testament Sabbath. As also cross dressing, adultery dishonoring parents and etc.

Jesus is the fulfillment of the law, including the fulfillment of the fourth commandment. He is in fact our Sabbath rest.

Great post indeed! Speaking of Saturday Sabbath keepers who freely condemn those who worship on Sunday instead of Saturday, I almost fell out of my chair in complete shock the day I discovered that Seventh-day Adventists teach that the near the end of time the "mark of the best" of Revelation 14 will be placed upon those who worship on Sunday instead of Saturday.

Hi!

In the World English Bible,

Not a single person will come to God except through Jesus.

Indeed, it is extremely offensive and wrong, and also Adventist claims of legislative encroachment on the Sabbath in favor of Sunday are inaccurate.

The Sabbath doctrine formulated after the Great Disappointment of 1844 was a grave mistake that careful study would have revealed. What happened then became a tool to lure unsuspecting and biblically uneducated into the now-SDA church. Without the Sabbath threat SDAs use to persuade people into believing they will be lost if they don't submit, their numbers dwindle.

All people have to do is realize the fact that God never asked another nation to observe the Sabbath. Even the Genesis account of God's resting after creation does not mention Adam and Eve doing the same. They had done nothing to require rest.

When God rescued the Israelites from captivity in Egypt they marched for several weeks and only after they crossed the Red Sea did God require them to observe a Sabbath. At Sinai, God revealed why He gave them the Sabbath. It was to be a memorial of His creation. Later He included it to remember their flight out of captivity in Egypt. Gentile nations had not experienced what Israel had.

Jesus is the fulfillment of the law, including the fulfillment of the fourth commandment. He is in fact our Sabbath rest.
"To fulfill the law" means "to cause God's will (as made known in His law) to be obeyed as it should be" (NAS Greek Lexicon: pleura), so Jesus fulfilled the by setting a sinless example for us to follow of how to correctly walk in obedience to it. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus was inviting people to come to him for rest and to learn from him, not inviting people to rest from learning from him. Moreover, by Jesus saying that we would find rest for our souls, he was referencing Jeremiah 6:16-19, where God's law is described as the good way where we will find rest for our souls, but people don't want to walk in it. In Hebrews 3:18-19, they did not enter into God's rest because of their disobedience/unbelief, and in Ezekiel 20:13, it specifically mentions that they greatly profaned God's Sabbaths. In Hebrews 4:9-11, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, we should rest from our work as God rested from his, and we should strive to enter into that rest so that no one may fall away by the same sort of disobedience, so trying to say that Jesus is our rest in order to justify the same sort of disobedience is the opposite of what was being said.

Sin is the transgression of God's law (1 John 3:4) and God's law commands to keep the Sabbath holy (Exodus 20:8-11), so it is therefore a sin to break the Sabbath. In Deuteronomy 4:2, it is a sin to add to or subtract from God's law, so it is also a sin for someone to claim that it is not a sin to break the Sabbath.

In regard to James 2:10, if we break any law and become a lawbreaker, then we need to repent and to return to obedience to God's law, which is precisely what he was encouraging them to do.

"To fulfill the law" means "to cause God's will (as made known in His law) to be obeyed as it should be"
Fulfill also means "bring to an end" You agree Jesus brought the sacrificial system to an end, yet you change the meaning to reconcile your preconceived ideas. Another thing, how do you reconcile: 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Do you understand what Jesus is telling us? Nothing can be removed from the Law until Jesus fulfills what He came to do. Do you believe Jesus did all that He came to do? I do. Are you picking and choosing the laws you deem to be applicable?

When did God put Gentiles under the ritual laws that He only gave to Israel?

Sin is the transgression of God's law (1 John 3:4)
If you would only read the remainder of chapter 3 you would not have written the remainder of the sentence.
and God's law commands to keep the Sabbath holy (Exodus 20:8-11), so it is therefore a sin to break the Sabbath.
I belong to the truth because I believe in Jesus as my Savior and keep His commands as indicated further in chapter 3. You, on the other hand, are telling us we must do something God never asked us to do.
In Deuteronomy 4:2, it is a sin to add to or subtract from God's law, so it is also a sin for someone to claim that it is not a sin to break the Sabbath.
God's laws to Israel were many, Jesus came and fulfilled the old covenant, brought it to an end, and gave us a new and better covenant with better promises. He did away with the "ministry of death" so all might live.

Jesus said that he came to fulfill the law in contrast with saying that he came not to abolish it and he warned against relaxing the least part of it or teaching other to do the same, so you should not interpret fulfilling the law as meaning the same thing as abolishing it or as relaxing even the least part of it. In Galatians 6:2, bearing one another's burdens fulfills the Law of Christ, yet you do not consistently interpret that as ending it. Jesus said that he came not to abolish the law, so he did not end any of God's laws, but rather all of God's righteous laws are eternal (Psalms 119:160). Instructions for how to testify about God's nature can't be abolished without first abolishing God. While Jesus has certainly accomplished much, there is still the second coming and all that Revelation says comes with it that is left to be accomplished.

Are you picking and choosing the laws you deem to be applicable?
No.

When did God put Gentiles under the ritual laws that He only gave to Israel?
God gave the law to Israel in order to equip them to be a light and a blessing to the nations by turning them from their wickedness and teaching them to obey it in accordance with the promise and the Gospel of the Kingdom. It is by the Mosaic Law that we have knowledge of what sin is (Romans 3:20), so the position that Gentiles are not under is the position that Gentiles don't need salvation from sin and don't need the Gospel message.

If you would only read the remainder of chapter 3 you would not have written the remainder of the sentence.
The rest of the chapter is in accordance with what I said.

I belong to the truth because I believe in Jesus as my Savior and keep His commands as indicated further in chapter 3. You, on the other hand, are telling us we must do something God never asked us to do.
The Mosaic Law is truth (Psalms 119:142) and Jesus embodied the truth by setting a sinless example for us to follow of how to walk in obedience to it (John 14:6), so you are an enemy of the truth. Our salvation is from sin (Matthew 1:21) and it is by the Mosaic Law that we have knowledge of what sin is (Romans 3:20), so being a doer of the Mosaic Law through faith in Jesus is his gift of saving us from not being doers of it, but you reject that gift. Again, if Gentiles were not required to refrain from doing what God has revealed to be sin through His law, then Gentiles would have no need of the gift of salvation.

God's laws to Israel were many, Jesus came and fulfilled the old covenant, brought it to an end, and gave us a new and better covenant with better promises. He did away with the "ministry of death" so all might live.
The Mosaic Covenant is eternal (Exodus 31:14-17, Leviticus 24:8), so the only that it can be replaced by the New Covenant is if the New Covenant does everything that it does plus more, which is what it means to make something obsolete (Hebrews 8:13). So the New Covenant involves God putting the Mosaic Law in our minds and writing it on our hearts (Hebrews 8:10) plus it is based on better promises and has a superior mediator (Hebrews 8:6). The fault that God had with the Mosaic Covenant was not with His law, but with the people for not continuing in it (Hebrews 8:7-9), so the solution to the problem was not for God to do away with His law, but to do away with what was hindering us from obeying it. So the New Covenant involves God sending His Son to free us from sin so that we might be free to meet the righteous requirement of the law (Hebrews 8:3-4), God taking away our hearts of stone, giving us hearts of flesh, and sending His Spirit to lead us to obey His law (Ezekiel 36:26-27), and putting His law in our minds and writing it on our hearts (Jeremiah 31:33).

Jesus said that he came to fulfill the law in contrast with saying that he came not to abolish it and he warned against relaxing the least part of it or teaching other to do the same, so you should not interpret fulfilling the law as meaning the same thing as abolishing it or as relaxing even the least part of it.
Yet you fail to observe all of the Law.

did Jesus bring to an end the prophesies about His coming? Your criteria as to the meaning of fulfill: "To fulfill the law" means "to cause God's will (as made known in His law) to be obeyed as it should be" surely does not fit with fulfilling the prophesies now does it?

Did Jesus fulfill all that He came to do? He didn't just say I will fulfill the sacrificial system, He said all of the Law. Did Jesus introduce a new covenant like was prophesied? If it is the same as the old one, why would Jeremiah even bother to predict it?

In Galatians 6:2, bearing one another's burdens fulfills the Law of Christ, yet you do not consistently interpret that as ending it.
The law of Christ is not the laws given at Sinai. Jesus gave us a new law to love others as He loves us. He even said it is new. He said He kept the old covenant laws and asked us to keep His. I asked you to read 1jn3 completely. It seems like you failed to read where he said we belong to the truth.... if we believe in Jesus and love others as He taught.
Jesus said that he came not to abolish the law, so he did not end any of God's laws, but rather all of God's righteous laws are eternal (Psalms 119:160).
I agree. Laws dealing with rituals are not righteous laws and even you know that. Circumcision, animal sacrifices, tithing to the Levitical priesthood and most other laws are not part of "righteous" laws
Instructions for how to testify about God's nature can't be abolished without first abolishing God. While Jesus has certainly accomplished much, there is still the second coming and all that Revelation says comes with it that is left to be accomplished.
I didn't ask you about things to come, I asked you if Jesus accomplished fulfilling the Law and the prophecies about
God gave the law to Israel in order to equip them to be a light and a blessing to the nations by turning them from their wickedness and teaching them to obey it in accordance with the promise and the Gospel of the Kingdom.
That is not what God said, that is what you have been taught by someone who is proclaiming fallacy. Ex19: 3 Then Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel: 4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you[a] will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”
It is by the Mosaic Law that we have knowledge of what sin is (Romans 3:20), so the position that Gentiles are not under is the position that Gentiles don't need salvation from sin and don't need the Gospel message.
Lets put Rom 3:20 in its proper perspective. 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. Ever heard of the covenant God made with Noah? It is called the Noahide covenant that covers all Gentiles. It is the laws God made with Noah and His posterity Gentiles had laws too.
The rest of the chapter is in accordance with what I said.
No, I am afraid it is not. Read it.

16 The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. That verse is singular. You try to make it plural, but it does not tell us that now does it?

Can we grasp the reality that as the church of Jesus Christ, our rest is in Him, not on a day of the week as outlined in Hebrews 4.
Our rest is in Him as Hebrews 3 and 4 bring out. But we who do enter into His Rest, the rest that is in Him, ALSO cease from our own works as God did from His. For this again He speaks, if we shall enter into His rest, the rest that is in Him which is the Gospel.

The Lord is Lord of sabbath and sunday.
Some one mentioned "Judgement" as if it is wrong. Correct Judgement requires knowledge. That is what the Sherlock Holmes stories were all about, making correct judgement. Hosea 4:6 wrote that "My People Perish for lack of Knowledge." People often cannot make correct Judgements without knowledge. So, in effect Hosea was saying "My People Perish for lack of Judgement.

As for Sabbaths at the North Pole etc. It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath, therefore nothing wrong with having a fire to keep war on a Sabbath.
As for the man who was stoned to death for gathering some wood on the Sabbath, we do not know enough to decide that ancient issue.

One more thing: YahShua did not eliminate the 7th Day Sabbath. It is still valid.

Him says, "...enter into His rest, the rest that is in Him which is the Gospel." That is correct. YahShua is the rest and so is His Gospel and 7th day Sabbath.

Two different rests though. One is a spiritual rest. A life in and though YahShua. And the other is a ceasing from work like God did on the Seventh Day of the week.

Welcome Yuwang. Do you believe Jesus chose Paul to start spreading the Good News to all mankind?
