Yes indeed, this thread getting too long and nothing new being discussed here to this point.
So I make a final statement on this thread as follows:
Hebrews 4.4-5.9-10
4.He has thus said somewhere concerning the Seventh Day, "And GOD rested on the Seventh Day from all His works" (Genesis 2.2),
5.and again in this passage, "They shall not enter My rest." (Psalm 95.11) These words of Paul relate to a physical rest of GOD, which is the land of Israel, Jerusalem to be precise.
9.There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of GOD. Here Paul referring not to the physical Sabbath rest but to the spiritual Sabbath rest, means Heaven, Kingdom of GOD.
By saying “for the people of GOD”, Paul summarizes people of GOD in this statement as those who are believers in GOD, included Jews and Gentiles, all who believe and trust in the Lord, and for them will be the second Sabbath, the second rest, but spiritual in its essence and not the physical one.
10.The one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as GOD did from His.
And this last verse is truly remarkable. “The one who has entered His rest”, means His Heavenly Kingdom, “also rested from his works”, means from his physical life here on Earth and from all the vanity and hassle what came from it. So in this instance Paul compared our life on Earth to the Six Days of creation of our physical world, after which GOD Himself rested on the Seventh Day.
Where then people of GOD will rest who entered His rest? They will rest in the remaining spiritual Sabbath rest, as verse 9 indicated. Word “remaining” means another Sabbath rest, one which left unused for those who are still physical beings.
So here Paul talks about not the physical Sabbath, but another still were remaining for us spiritual Sabbath, the resting place of GOD, the Heaven.
So in spiritual term, Paul compared Heavenly Kingdom of GOD to a Sabbath. And as GOD Himself rests in His Heavenly Kingdom from all the works He had done, and so the believers in GOD will have their spiritual Sabbath rest in the Kingdom of their GOD, and will rest with Him from all their physical works here on Earth.
If Paul placed so much emphasis and gave so much attention to the Sabbath, to both, to the physical Sabbath and to the spiritual Sabbath which is our final spiritual resting place, would you believe that Paul himself never observed the physical Sabbath Day?
Oh yes he observed alright, and it will be foolish to assume that by not observing the physical Sabbath Day in respect to GOD and what it reflect and symbolizes, a person can enter the spiritual Sabbath, the rest of GOD, His spiritual Kingdom.
Definitely Paul observed the physical Sabbath, because he perfectly understood the importance of it, and revealed it in this wonderful statement to Hebrews.
Why Paul decided to write this statement to Hebrews? He did this for a reason, and a reason was not to discourage the Jews and Gentiles as well completely from the physical rituals of the Law of Moses, against which Paul himself so passionately argued with them against, but to let them understand, what practically all physical rituals of the Law of Moses under Christ became already, or would become very soon completely spiritual in their nature.
And because of it Paul compared the physical Sabbath to a spiritual Sabbath as its highest level of perfection, and as everlasting continuation in its spiritual form. And this is why Paul pointed to Heaven as a spiritual Sabbath, and as the final salvation and the resting place of a human soul.
So think twice now concerning this statement of Paul and the Sabbath. If a physical Sabbath is not for you, would you obtain the Kingdom of GOD, the spiritual Sabbath as Paul presented it, as the everlasting resting place for your soul?
And if you say, “I will obtain Kingdom of GOD through the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross”, as many hypocrites using this cliché in order to justify themselves not doing anything for GOD, and their own disrespect and ignorance for His commandments and statutes, then take a look at Jesus Christ again Who Himself observed the Sabbath Day through out His entire life, and never broke any of the commandments of GOD.
Concerning those “Ignatius of Antioch and Polycarp”, I do not recognize them as being any type of authority or anything at all for that matter, and I believe what they have been made up by some doctrinal sect of people in order to derail people from the direct Word of GOD and its truth.
But Paul is undeniable authority for all true Christians, and whatever he said, it is true, inspired and stimulated by the Word of GOD.
And if Paul so highly exalted the Sabbath, even to the point of presenting it as the spiritual Heaven and the rest of GOD, and our own final spiritual resting place, when who are those “Ignatius of Antioch and Polycarp”, or others to deny the Sabbath?
