S.o.s. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS THREAD WHOEVER YOU ARE! How can the Holy Ghost dwell in a sinner? I repent everyday but repeat the same sin the very next day sometimes the same day or hour. The sin is drug use. I am addicted to methadone i get from a clinic and since i have gone down 60 mg on my daily dose within the last year, my cravings have returned and I have been using some heroin . I am ashamed. I am so scared that I am a reprobate and am a sinner sowing calamity. My heart and spirit are so heavy. Yeshua is my only hope but I dont obey His Fathers Holy Commandments. I see drugs as idolatry and a sort of emotional sorcery, or pharmakaiea. No matter how hard i try to will myself away from it , my own will returns to it like a dog returning to its vomit. I am selfishly living my life saying I love Abba Father and I love Yeshua, but i seem to love following my destruction more. I pray with tears and pining and moaning and yearning and shame. I pray knowing I am completely unworthy of His salvation or redemption, I confess my sins. I verbally repent but return to the sin hating myself every moment. I fear Abba Father. I fear His judgement greatly.Hell terrifies me evidently not enough because i am the double hearted kind James and King David warned about. I am Capricorn. Satans sign. This sickens and mortifies me. Child of satan /tribe of Benjamin . I just wonder if my name has been blotted out from the Book of life already. Please pray for my eternal soul!

Everyone has struggles with sin, including the apostle Paul who wrote this passage. Romans 7:7-25
The sin is drug use. I am addicted to methadone i get from a clinic and since i have gone down 60 mg on my daily dose within the last year, my cravings have returned and I have been using some heroin .
That is disappointing to read but you have made progress in the past, so you can do it again.
I see drugs as idolatry and a sort of emotional sorcery, or pharmakaiea. No matter how hard i try to will myself away from it , my own will returns to it like a dog returning to its vomit.
Anything we put before God is an idol. Yours just happens to be drugs. Have you confessed your sins AND accepted God's forgiveness? 1 John 1:9, Psalm 103:8-14
I fear Abba Father. I fear His judgement greatly.
You are the prodigal son, He is your father. Return to Him. Luke 15:11-31
Right now you need to swallow your pride, admit your need for help to health professionals, family, friends for further help in overcoming your drug dependence. If you can do that online you can do it in person as well. 1 Corinthians 10:13
Health professionals are realists - everybody knows drug addicts often have periods of relapse. It is a medical problem as well as a social and spiritual one.

For reflection: I ask that you read this passage and think of this adultress as being your drug problem - what are you doing to avoid/be in her presence? Proverbs 7

Remember we all sin and fall short of the glory of God! He loves you and is calling for you! I do believe the Holy Spirit dwells in sinners. Why? Because we are ALL sinners, and in breaking one law we break them all. What I have found is that those who have overcome sins of the flesh still commit sins of the heart, like pridefulness.

Cling to Him my friend. He is love, love that is everlasting. He does not like your problem, but He SEES that you are struggling against it, that you recognize the supreme war in you between flesh and Spirit.

Be blessed, you are in my prayers!

Heroin is a powerful thing to defeat. Don't give up on yourself or God. This drug seems to attack on three fronts. 1st the flesh. Heroin is one of the hardest addictions to beat. 2nd emotional. What causes a person to put a mind altering substance into their body? I had to answer this one for myself also. 3rd this drug is spiritually very dark and insidious. The fact that you are still fighting against this drug shows that the Holy Spirit is still calling you. Don't worry about what sign you were born under. God created both the stars and satan with a word and He can take them both out just as easily. I see your also taking methadone. Are you under a doctor's care? Does he/she know you are struggling with this and are falling back into heroin? Doctors know this is a tough battle and he or she probably have other resources to help you with.

We're all in the same boat brother. We all sin, even when we are saved and have the Holy Spirit. We should make all attempts to not sin, but are flesh does not obey spiritual things. Don't give up the fight, but don't think God loves you any less. You are free from your sins in His sight.

@tigger45 THANK YOU for your response:) I am under a doctors care for the methadone and yes he knows i have relapsed lately. Thats why i dont get my "take home" doses now, b/c i had a dirty U.A. screen. Do you also take methadone? Im on 25mg but i was on 80mg. You are so right in your breakdown of this drug that i must conclude you might have danced with it before also?

The indwelling Holy Spirit does not take your free will away. You either allow Him to lead you or you take the lead and quench the Spirit. The indwelling Holy Spirit is not laid back doing nothing and does not like doing nothing (staying away from sinning). If you want the Spirit active you have to start doing something positive and the Spirit will participate with you and really do it through you.

The Spirit is not there to stop you, but is there to help you do stuff. You can stop him. Please get involved in helping others, you will find people with bigger problems than yours and you really can help.

JE, clearly you have a heart for God. He is not going to abandon anyone like that, because our salvation cannot rest on our own performance. He loves us, that's why He saved us.

You need deliverance from this bondage. But the answer is not to beat yourself up according to Romans chapter 7, it is to step over into chapter 8 and realize your birthright of no condemnation. As long as you turn yourself toward God, you qualify. He is the Author and Finisher of your faith, and He who began a good work will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus (Php 1.6)

Grace prevenes - that means it goes where it is not deserved in order to accomplish its goals. Otherwise it would not be grace, because that is its nature. Don't allow thoughts of rejection to add to your burdens. God is for you. Who can be against you? Labor to enter His rest.
