That's cool!!!
Yay for Ruth!!!
(Great names by the way :D)

My dd can write her name, and it took about the past year for her to master it, from age 3-4.
She also writes 'dad', 'mom' and tries to write her sisters' names, but not quite!!!
I think it's personality, because she wants to do everything herself, no matter what it is!!!

And happy birthday to your little one Neenie, monday, so was that the 7th? Or the 1st? My daughter is the 8th! And it was my birthday yesterday! I was amazed, everyone remembered! ^_^

Happy Birthday for yesterday!!! :D Did you do anything for your birthday???
It was my DH's birthday on Sat (12th)... Lots of birthdays in July!

Well... Maddie and I finally have an 'ish' routine going now!!! It is awesome. She'll get up from her night sleep anywhere from 7-11am, have a feed and then go back to sleep for about 2-4 hours. It is awesome!!! I have a couple of hours where I can get some things done around the house! I can even sometimes get a shower in!
I now just have to get her into having an arvo sleep... she is SO tired. But she won't go down. I have been wearing her in our wrap to get her to sleep for a bit, otherwise all hell breaks loose later on that night, and we have a very overtired baby.
I just wish she would go to sleep earlier in the evenings. She is usually up til about 2am... it is getting really hard to deal with. Is there anything I can do to get her to go down earlier? Even midnight would be alot more dealable!!!

So can you explain a little bit more about what her routine is and where feeding/sleeping/playing is and we can maybe get some more ideas about what is keeping her awake at night.

I don't know how true it is, but I read somewhere that a walk in the afternoon can help babies sleep better at night, so maybe just rug her up and take her outside in the pram for a little while in the afternoon, say around 3 - 4 before it starts to get tooooo cold.

 SAHMs!

angelsgirl: when my boys were babies, i established a "night time" routine as soon as possible. About an hour after dinner, I would quiet the house down..turn down lights, turn off loud noises, etc. then i would give them a bath and read a story (yes...even when they were babies!).
then i would give them their last feeding for the evening and lay them in their crib with soft music playing.
it took a few months for them to get it, but then they actually started getting tired at their bedtime. and yes...a little "outside" time is good to get the baby tired out.
so it just takes a little time...consistency and persistency! God bless!

Thankyou! We had lunch at my in-laws, which is a normal sunday thing, after church, but they made a nice pavlova. Then yesterday I went shopping and bought myself a few pressies... Just some clothes, and the cook book 'Maggie's Harvest' by maggie beer - it's all about using ingredients in season... It was more amazing that everyone remembered, I usually don't make a big deal - and it gets forgotten only 5 days after my daughters!

So, how long is she awake for at a time now? I agree with the other suggestions of some outside time, some fresh air really helps them... Remember, you have to teach them the difference between night time and day time, when it's night time/sleep time, try not to stimulate her too much (loud talking/playing, keeping lights low), this is another reason getting outside during the day helps - I think...
If you try to work out her day sleeps so she doesn't sleep later than about 4-4.30pm, then keep her up she should be ready for a bed time routine around 7.30pm - bath, feed, bed... out like a light hopefully! :sorry:

ok... so success!!! Maddie went to sleep at 11.40pm last night and slept through til 8am!!! the only problem was she was so fidgety in her sleep i didn't get much sleep cause she was in bed with me! Usually i get more sleep when she is in bed with me. But not last night.
She stayed with her grandparents the night before, and was asleep by 11.30, so hopefully it will stay that way.

TNT... Ruth sounds very cute!!! How old is she?

yay! Hopefully this is the beginning of some more sleep for you angelsgirl! Although, never count on it, my son is nearly 11 months and he had a shocking night last night! :swoon:

I think she's just adorable - I'd show you all but we don't post pics on the net - she just turned 3, 11 days ago (she was born 5 days before my 21st b'day). She has the biggest brown eyes (like her father) and such long dark eye lashes, it seriously looks like she's always wearing mascara, she has chocolate brown curly hair (also from dad), and my pale skin... Call me biased :p but I think she's so strikingly beautiful! And smart and clever! And sooo frustrating at times! ^_^

 all.
it's hot and humid.
What are y'all doing with your children when it's hot and humid outside?

If it's humid, it's probably monsoon season; which means a few days of rain, which "cools" things off....to about mid-90s!!!
We are getting wet one way or the other...splash parks, public pools, or water balloons and the like.

Otherwise, when it's hot and dry, it's usually about 110 degrees out and we don't go out!!!

I only wish it was hot and humid outside. It's Winter in Australia. I am freezing, and I have a cold. So does my 3 yo daughter.

However when it's hot and humid out, we usually try to play outside in the morning before it gets too hot, and then again in the late evening. During the middle of the day we try to stay inside.

yeah...WATER is our friend in the humidity...however, I don't like to go to public pools and lakes. I have issues with myself in a bathing suit! LOL!
I would love to stay in, but my boys love to go outside, and i cannot leave them there unattended. so i just sweat it out! :D

sorry to hear that you & your DD have colds. hope you are well soon.
today, my boys were swimming in their little pool at 5:30pm...it was cooler, but still humid.

Ugh marezee... i wouldn't like to ever have to move that often. And a week after having a bub, you need a medal!!!

So we had a fantastic day and night last night... Maddie was a little perfect princess. Last night she fell asleep at about 11.30pm and i put her to bed. She slept soundly til about 3 when she started to stir... I put her dummy back in and she went back to sleep, then at about 4 she let out this massive scream. and went back to sleep. And finally she started crying for real at about 6.30am and DH got her out of her bassinet and she promptly fell back asleep so he brought her into bed with us. But she had a full 6 hours in the bassinet!!! I can't believe it! I am so happy... i got her up at 8 for a feed... she was still asleep though. She fed, burped and she is back asleep now. She is being a little angel today!
