Welllll. I am helping her with her math now. She will probably be here for dinner.

In reality I look at it this way. It is because I am here, and the kids can have their friends here, that I have some clue as to what is happenning in their pre-teen lives.
That is wonderful Faith! I want to be there for my boys in the same way! But...I CAN wait...because they are only this little for a little while!

Ladies what are some things that you LOVE about your day with the kids? Any particular memories you cherish?

(I don't remember if I shared this before or not... but I'll share it again anyway! :) )My 3 y/o one day as she sat in the big recliner watching tv asked, "Excuse me, Mother?" (She says this every once in a while since she discovered I'm a mother, daddy is a father, Gramma is a grandmother and so on). I said, "Yes babe?" To which she asked, "Mama, uhh.. what's the plan?" LOL!

She can recite Romans 8:35 - it truly has to be the most precious thing I've heard to hear scripture come out of the mouth of a child.

She asks if she can watch "Molar Espress" AKA "Polar Express."

"Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama, Ma----" "Excuse me." I interrupt, firmly but softly. "Excuse me, Mother?" Intentionally I wait a moment to show her to wait and then I say "Yes, babe?" "Uhave pleasah can I havuh X?"
I like that "molar express!" Too funny!! I love those little expressions children make too...when they think they are being an "adult." Those eyebrows go up and the eyes go sideways...and they get those little hands on their hips! too cute!
I love tickling my boys, and hearing them laugh! it's the best mood lifter in the world! And I love when they come running to me to show me something they just made or drew. Those moments I treasure.
I also secretly love when they eat their fruits and veggies, but don't tell them that!! LOL!

What is awesome about being a stay at home mom, among other things of course, is that since my husband works weird hours, the kids need to stay up late in order to spend time with him and it's ok. I don't have to worry that they have to get up early in the morning.

They can do their schoolwork whatever time they wake up. When my husband gets home from work it is sometimes 6 in the morning or 1 in the afternoon and he's ready to get some sleep. So there are times when we will be having the equivalent of dinner at 11 pm or breakfast at 3 am. I know, it's strange, but it works for us.

I couldn't do that if I had to work outside the home.

being flexible is so great! What's not so great is when you have to coordinate your family schedule with an outsiders' schedule, like for parties and such.
BTW...my son Jake turned 2 yesterday!! He is sooo cute and growing so fast! We already had two parties. one at home yesterday for family, and one today at "For the Love of Children" for friends. We will go to grandma's on Sunday after church for a third! Whew! we are partied out!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

:hug:Happy Birthday to Jake!!! Two-year olds are so adorable. It's great when you can kiss their little problems away. He's a little party animal, huh? I love little kids' birthday parties. Their little faces just light up with all the fun stuff. We are all certainly blessed to be SAHMs.
