  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm sure there will be others who have! Surely in this big wide world others have been cured without explanation!

Sure. I have myself. It was an instantaneous healing--snap, just like that--from a back injury that had plagued me for over a decade. Went away in the moment I stood up in obedience to the Holy Spirit and has never returned. That was a time that the Lord was telling me to do a particular physical task and I needed to be healed to get it done.

OTOH, the Lord has never healed my myopia or my enlarged sinus turbinets (took three operations to get those in check) nor has He protected me from the physical ravages of old age, such as this troublesome enlarged prostate.

Have you noted the eye problems Paul speaks of in Galatians? It's got an interesting juxtaposition:

So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? -- Galatians 3

As you know, it was because of an illness that I first preached the gospel to you, 14 and even though my illness was a trial to you, you did not treat me with contempt or scorn. Instead, you welcomed me as if I were an angel of God, as if I were Christ Jesus himself. 15 Where, then, is your blessing of me now? I can testify that, if you could have done so, you would have torn out your eyes and given them to me.--Galatians 4

Wow. Paul was sick among the Galatians (apparently an eye problem) even as God was working miracles among them, although from what Paul says, God used his illness to put him among the Galatians in the first place.

Go to the doctor. I can’t believe there are people in this day and age who will not take advantage of medical treatments.

I was hospitalized for over a week last month with a bowel obstruction. Those are life threatening so I would have died if I’d not gone to the ER.

Should we as Christians who have accepted Jesus as our Saviour, rely on him in times of illness. Or run to the doctors for help in this age? :)

Well Jesus thought highly of doctors since he made one his disciple. We should rely on Jesus, but use all that is available to us to take good care of the bodies God gifted to us. Including going to doctors for regular check ups & certainly in times of illness.

A little over a year ago I had double vision for almost 3 months after a head injury. It was quite aggravating. I don't believe in God (or any god) so I never prayed for healing. Yet after waking up one morning, it was gone. Did God, for some reason, heal a non-believer who didn't--and still doesn't--acknowledge his existence? Or was it just the human body's natural healing ability? Which is what I'm sure it was. To be honest, I was never really worried. Being a health care provider myself, I knew that post-concussion visual problems usually resolve spontaneously.

Because jumping from 10th floor and asking for angel to rescue you might not be "must" for God to act to save you , he might just let you reap what you sow .
You are correct.... You must know you are protected by God before you jump. figuring things out after you jump is a recipe for disaster...

I have although it wasn’t due to cancer. I don’t feel like going into it on a public forum.
Interesting how you so easily stated that going to a doctor saved your life, on a public forum....but dont want to talk about how God healed you on a public forum....

You did pray....you just dont know you did, as prayer has little to do with words that leave your mouth. It is sometimes the ones that "try" to pray consciously, that get it wrong.

"And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners"
