Rumours...

Hey all,
It's been a while since I've dropped in because my little dog had her desexing, I've been working on my internet course & column and having the flu

Just wanted to speak about rumours. Some people have been saying dreadful things about my brother (a girl he dated once telling lies mainly - they dated a week! Wish she'd grow up - that was 3yrs ago!). I feel it's disgusting when innocent people are treated this way and wondered if the same had happened to anyone else?

If you have rumours told about you, what do you do?

Would you rebuke someone because of a rumour?

Has a rumour ever stopped someone from loving you?

Have you ever started a rumour?

My church has had rumours told about it for several years by people that left. They are patently untrue (I was there and have been there), but rumors seem to live by themselves.

What can you do? In the end, only be true and tell the truth. In the end, rumors are impossible to defend against. As scripture says, the words of a talebearer are like tasty morsels - they go down into the innermost body.

What can you do? be true and live before God. Justice is His and it is before Him that we answer.

I know of a rumor where one of my best friends was hanging around the ex boyfriend of one of our friends a lot. The ex girlfriend got jealous and spread a rumor that the two of them had sex (it was started by another girl)! He isn't that kind of guy and didn't like my friend like that and she didn't like him either. However, his ex spread this rumor around to everyone it seems. It was kind of odd though because his ex said she loved him and thought he was the one she was going to marry, yet thought so low of him as to spread and believe a rumor like that! I thought it was very childish and disrespectful to someone she claimed to "love" so much.

Rumors can cause lots of trouble. You have to go to the source to stop the flow.

The same thing has happend to me and it is very upsetting. Thing is not to let it make us bitter. Sometimes I believe God allows things to happen so that we can learn from these things. When people tell lies about us though it hurts very much.
I read something interesting the other day and it was simply that we as christians are children of God whereas some people have refused the gospel message and are chosing to follow the devils ways and as such behave like children of the devil as such we should expect them to behave like the devil and they do! We need compassion for them and to see their spiritual condition.
The devil is a liar and will use people to tell lies about christians cause the devil hates those who love God
I dont think it always helps to confront people about lies I think we have victory in our prayer clossets. Sometimes God uses these things to bring us closer to him and to show us that we have to walk in love towards everyone and not react in the flesh!
There is a good book which maybe might help your brother its called `Love is the Victory` and its by Kenneth E Hagin.We as chirstians need to walk in love towards others and this includes those telling lies about us. Its tough though but we have victory through Jesus. We also should not believe everyhthing told to us about others even chrisitans have been known to gosip which is wrong!
