Its what they call themselves. Most of the voters who vote Democrat call themselves socialists. They vote for their agenda so therefore the Democrat party is socialist. That is old news though.
You apparently don't know much about the Democratic Party. Are there self described socialists in the Democratic Party? Yes. I'll even give you that most self-described socialists vote for the Democrats when giving a choice. But that is not the same things as the majority of Democrats being socialists.

Giuliani is an American hero

Was. I think he lost that title a while ago. Somewhere about the time he began publicly debasing himself on national television, on behalf of the Trump campaign. By then he was turning into a national punchline, not a national hero. And, if not by then, then certainly by the time of his appearance in Borat: Subsequent MovieFilm, or when his hair dye was so embarrassed at appearing in front of Four Seasons Landscaping that it attempted to leave his head and migrate to other parts of his body.

and its a shame to see so many young and ill-informed people celebrating a fraudulent case fabricated by socialists. This all leads nowhere good real fast.

Well, he had a free and fair trial with the best possible legal representation but deliberately failed to cooperate and then had a judge find him liable for defamation. That's the opposite of fraudulent, its meritorious.

It doesn't matter one whit if those women - or the people advising, supporting or assisting them - were socialists. Unless you think that socialists don't have the same rights as other Americans?

As for celebrating it, I think it's apt. A racist bully spouting baseless conspiracy theories got his comeuppance at the hands of some of the people he tried to bully. If that's not worth of celebration, then very few things are.

I think the Congresswoman doth file ethics complaints against judges too much.

Rep. Elise Stefanik files ethics complaint against judge in Trump's civil fraud trialThe senior House Republican and close Trump ally accused Judge Arthur Engoron of “weaponized lawfare” against the former president and called on the judge to recuse himself.

Could it be because judges have become too political? Thereby becoming activists themselves?
Not in the case of Engoron.

“The commission dismissed the complaint, having found no basis on the facts presented to commence an investigation,” wrote Robert H. Tembeckjian, the commission administrator and counsel.

Although nearly all such complaints are filed and processed in secret, Stefanik announced the accusation on X in November, in what was largely seen as an attempt to get in Trump’s good graces and elevate her profile while the presumptive Republican presidential nominee narrows down his list of candidates for vice president.

On March 14, the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct chucked out Stefanik’s accusation. The legal process typically takes place behind closed doors, but The Daily Beast acquired a copy of the decision.

Was there ever any doubt that the liberal New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct would rule against Guilliani and Stefanik?

I think their being guilty certainly played a role in the general belief they’d be ruled against, lol.

Being guilty of a politically charged crime in the very liberal courts of New York was something that I expected to happen. Also, I expected that the liberals in that NY State Commission to rule against Stefanik and Guilliani.

Guilliani has become the scapegoat and the proverbial pound of flesh for the progressive left wing liberals in the "justice system", in my opinion.

What a farcical picture of the situation.

Summarizing Giuliani's statements in court (as opposed to what he tells television cameras):

No, you can't see my documents relevant to this matter.
Yes, I did it.
No, I have no defense.

So, when did it become normal to absolutely and completely financially bankrupt one man for losing against this kind of a civil lawsuit?

That's what the jury determined. Given the death threats that sent the women into hiding, I'm not surprised the damages and punitary amount were large. Giuliani is welcome to appeal, but he seems more interested in ignoring the court and playing games with his possessions.

So, when did it become normal to absolutely and completely financially bankrupt one man for losing against this kind of a civil lawsuit?
When did it become normal for a politically connected lawyer to go after ordinary public servants just doing their jobs? When did it become normal for one man, leading a team of many, to victimize two innocent women by telling egregious lies about them, including that they were conspiring traitors such that they were no longer able to do their jobs? When did it become normal for one famous lawyer to subject two innocent women to harassment and death threats such that they had to go into hiding? When did it become normal for the guilty, wealthy victimizer to refuse to simply settle the case, draw the litigation out while continuing to defame his victims for years out of bad faith, fail to preserve and present discovery evidence and then refuse to pay after losing, going so far as to actively hide and transfer his assets?

I hope this does not become the new normal but merely a cautionary tale.

If I was on a jury for a civil trial like this one or a similar one, I would find it difficult to blame the defendant for the actions of those who were sending death threats being criminally harassing towards the plaintiff.
Those who were actually harassing the plaintiffs with death threats should have been the ones charged with a crime and put on trial in my opinion.
However, I do agree that Mr. Giuliani should have behaved in a much better way and responded in a much better legal way throughout that civil trial and after that trial.
Nevertheless, I still have a real problem with the judge and the courts desiring to completely financially bankrupt Rudy Giuliani to the tune of multiple millions of dollars.
