Yo. I was here when the forum was started and when it meant that one is a religious conservative (whether Catholic or Protestant) and at the same time also a political conservative, one whose religious convictions were expected to be expressed in the political arena. It was never intended to be a forum for religious liberals who were also political conservatives (if such a beast could possibly exist) or religious conservatives who are liberal in the political area, nor for that matter for people holding very untraditional religioui views but claiming that since they "believe in the Bible" (as they might interpret it in their own unique way), they this makes them conservative. Just saying. All the other combinations were represented somewhere else on CF so that is why there was a felt need for a forum for this kind of poster.
So in your opinion do you think I should be elsewhere?
No. Not if I understand your position. As I understand you, you are disinclined to get into political debates. That's what I take from the expression, "politically celibate." Or perhaps you just don't follow politics that closely and so are not into that part of life. Fine. The idea was not that everyone HAD to post politically-oriented messages. What was intended was that this -- relating a traditionalist religious POV to current affairs -- was welcome. Welcome, not required.
This was because some people thought that it was wrong to be involved in politics or even to vote. This POV holds either that it's all in God's hands or that the true Christian was not of this world, etc. etc. We said that the fundamentalist forum was more like that, but that we didn't agree to such a prohibition on politically-oriented discussions springing from conservative religious beliefs. They were considered a natural thing, but no one was expected to comment on anything they didn't care to.
Or, in other words, what WolfbitnGodSmittn said!![]()
maybe I'm more fundamentalist than I think..
Well, it really doesn't matter. The question you asked concerned you not commenting on political matters, and we don't say that you have to if you don't care to.
That's a far different matter from using the Conservative Christian forum for purposes of promoting liberal relgious or political POVs. And even that is not wrong in itself (promoting liberal views), just not appropriate to what this forum was set up to be.
Well, I was here from the beginning of this forum also. I remember the reason and purpose for its inception, however, this forum has morphed from a mainly theological conservative forum to a politically conservative push. I would love to see it go back to the theological conservative focus simply because it is much simpler to define.
Present...but I have a note from my Father for early dismissal....![]()
ok you, I'm the one that forged that note for you, use it in another forum![]()
