• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

For the most part, I have a Conservative-to-Fundy view of Scripture, but that does not translate directly to social or political conservatism.

Regarding the alleged "original" intent and nature of this board, viz. that it was for those who were conservative *both* in theology *and* politics -- So what? Even before the recent changes, the FSGs said little about the political aspect.

More pertinently -- Since AFAICT there are no longer "FSGs" or anything resembling such, why do we even HAVE these cloisters? If there is no official definition of what "Conservative" means, how are the mods going to regulate posts according to content? Might as well just have a big FFA (Free For All) jello-wrestling area.

Hi!

I'm another who was here at the beginning of CC.

I'm fundamentalist on the very basics (the 1910 "five fundamentals"), totally orthodox on the extended basics (Apostles & Nicene creed stuff), but could be anywhere on less central issues, not too predictable until you know me well.

Politically I'm libertarian-conservative (like Neal Boortz or Barry Goldwater) and a member of the Libertarian Party.

Like it. Sounds like a plan. Just... please... no green Jello. Blech.

.

I occasionally post here, although General Theology is my usual haunt. But (like almost all forums), it's become pretty quiet these days and so I sometimes go to other forums around CF, too.

As was mentioned earlier, this forum was actually set up for THEOLOGICAL conservatives, it was never intended to be a political forum. Those political conversations started almost immediately, however. I have no problems with that, and Staff doesn't seem to either, but it was intended to be a place for theological conservatives - regardless of political views or denominational association (if any). I'm a member of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, which is pretty universally regarded as "conservative" so here I am. ;)
