Their first album is wonderful, very beautiful Christ centered songs with only acoustic guitar accompanying (only in Greek though). I have not heard their second album but their third is pretty disappointing in my opinion. They're beginning to sound like every other Christian rock band and IMHO are compromising their integrity in order to reach a wider audience.

Oh yeah? How were their lyrics in their third album? Were they becoming un-Orthodox at all?

Not necessarily, but the songs/music were becoming indistinguishable from a lot of secular rock music. Then there are the video clips of some of the songs, all very entertaining but not necessarily edifying. Another thing that bugs me somewhat are the promotional photos with the monks wearing cowboy hats.

Don't get me wrong, I love their first album and support what they are doing, but I see them trying to be acceptable to the world instead of being salt and light and standing apart from it. I believe they should be moving a lot more cautiously than they have been.

From the link above.
Though Nektarios says Archbishop Christodoulos, the reform-minded leader of the Greek Church, has given the rock-'n'-roll missionaries his blessing, other prelates describe Eleftheroi as "utterly unseemly" and the monks' stardom as "incompatible with the humble dignity of the priest-hood." "It's stuffy attitudes like these that distanced the youth from the Church in the first place," huffs Nektarios, who likes handing out glossy icons of Jesus and autographed pictures of the band to young fans. "We'll continue our mission, for we have neither sinned nor breached any code of monastic life." No vows of silence for these monks.

I don't get an impression of humility from Father Nektarios, rather the opposite. The actions of his group of monks is scandalising other monks and priests yet that does not seem to bother him at all. His attitude overall seems a terrible affront to the holy saint he is named after, Nektarios, the epitomy of humility and obedience. Do you see why I have a problem with this?

I see exactly what you mean.

God bless you, brother.

At first I thought this was a joke. Though I've never heard anything of this, I cannot think that if it continues to go on that it will bear much good fruit.

I was a bit surprised about it at first as well.;)
