Okay, I can't help it, I enjoyed this show last night!

That Dave whatsit guy from the RHCP is kind of scary, but aside from that, the show was really good TV, don't you think?

I would've called out the same three people, and I would have also gotten rid of Dana. Dave hit the nail on the head when he said that long "scream" got "uncomfortable." It's pretty bad when you freak out the freak.

And I really enjoyed the spontaneous song at the party - that was real.

So far I like the blonde guy and the girl with the dreds. How about you?

I was impressed with the girl in the dreds again. The blonde guy blew it, IMHO. Homeless Dude was very good, and of course Brandon. I think that red-headed girl will probably get a recording contract out of this show, but I don't think she's the right person to front INXS.

Come on, people, I know there are more rocknroll fans out there than this! Maybe I'll check the secular music forum....

I missed the first show but I caught the 2nd and 3rd too. Hey, I didn't know who Brooke Burke was either! Then again, I don't read playboy. ;)

My money is on Jordis and J.D. I also like Deanna and Brandon.

I loved what J.d. did to California Dreamin and the fact that he got called out for an encore showed the rest of the rockers that steppin' it up is the name of the game.

I missed the half hour show- didn't understand that htere are two shows a week! Tonight I will be watching and next week both shows !

I understand what JL Brian LC is saying but anything that is not of God is of the world, right? We can't live in a bubble.

Ya never know! Hey this is probably the most exposure INXS has HAD since then. This show alone could kick start them. YOu know the masses! They're so easy!!!

My take on the show tonight:

Marty Casey - sang 'What I like about YOU' - a TOTAL Mick Jagger wannabe- sings like him, dances like him- don't care for him at all

Daphna - did Joan jett and I only know cause I wrote it down. I've already forgotten her performance

Ty Taylor - the black guy with the mohawk has theatre written all over him. It was my first thought- VERY dramatic . Even though Navarro didn't care for it, personally, I enjoyed it being a theatrical person myself. He REALLy knows how to project

Susie did Roxanne and she really felt it so I did too. Good for her- Torontonian eh?

MIG- what's with the single name? talk about ego. He did Walk This Way and it looked like he was unable to remember the lyrics AND dance at the same time- good thing breathing comes naturally-

Neil Carson-horribly off key

Heather the redhead- she sang "it's only rock n roll" I jsut don't care for her though she has a strong voice. she was a stiff dancer and her performance seemed forced to me

J.D. is the man to beat- I loved his rendition of Hand in my Pocket- a song I've never been really crazy about. It sort of reminded me of Joy Division/ depeche Mode in a way that I cna't possibly explain!!!!!!
I honestly got GOOSEBUMPS

Tara did Paranoid and did better than I thought she would but FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, if you're going to sing Paranoid- BANG YOUR FREAKIN' HEAD!!!!!!!

Deannna the blonde that I liked last week sounded a little Joplin-like to me this week but I've already forgotten what she sang so it couldn't have been that good

Jordiss doing the Hoobastank song totally kicked it. I mean when she sings softly it's beautiful- when she turns it on it's inherent passion- she is an absolute natural with a tremendous gift- Another thing I like about her is she doesn't sex it up all over the stage- she has a dignity and modesty that I really appreciate. she lets the MUSIC TALK

Jessica doing Purple Haze was painful to listen to and just as painful to watch- her profile says she has done adult movies and it shows in her performance.

Brandon- what FUN that was!!! I like the "vietnam vet" look he had going- he nailed it and gave me a few shivers!

Lookin forward to next week!!!!!

I agree, I think this show is breathing new life into INXS - there's a whole new generation to conquer..... you younger folks don't remember what an iconic 80s group this was.....

My turn in the critic's box

Marty Casey - was HORRIBLE - totally unmelodic this time and unappealing every time. There's only ONE Mick Jagger!

Daphna - I love that song, but I don't like her that much. I think Dave Navarro is just into her, and not as a singer.

Ty Taylor - okay, mohawks are so OVER. Long ago. But I do enjoy his performances. BUT they had a point when they asked him for some different stuff.

Susie - I really want to like her - she seems so sweet, and she made Roxanne work, even though it's really a song for a guy to sing. Nice voice. I'd like to see her in P&Wmusic, actually.

MiG - I really like him. I thought he was a trouper with his efforts in Walk This Way, but I agree, his moves were a little stiff. I personally think he's the one to beat, as far as fitting in with the band.

Neil Carson - I don't remember what song he sang, just that he was kind of scary, like some kind of alien clone of Tom Petty who can't quite act human.

Heather - I like her voice - I think she would've done better on the Joan Jett song which she reportedly "gave" Daphna for her birthday. Personally, I think she needs her OWN band - she's too much HEATHER for INXS, you know?

Same kind of thing for Brandon - he's larger than life, as they say, and an awesome performer, but I think he's too American-Rock for INXS. Reminds me of that guyfrom American Idol.

several of these people are too far into the hard-rock thing to fit in to the INXS vibe, I think. Unless that's a new direction they're wanting to go, which it could be, since they're working with Navarro. I saw the RHCP in concert back in the eighties - they were awesome (don't remember Navarro being in the group then, but hey I could be wrong) - course, that was when I was straying from the Lord, and I wouldn't listen to them any more - toooooooo fleshy.......

back to my critiques......

JD, imho, is the "dark horse." He could win. He really does want it bad, for several reasons. I felt exactly the same way about his rendition of Hand in my Pocket that you did. I really loved Joy Division and Depeche Mode and Wire - he reminds me of that guy in Wire. Sort of psycho. lol!

Tara - I thought she did pretty well, I don't like Black Sabbath, and I think she went wayyyyyyy over the top in compensating for the last couple of performances. She just hasn't ever really appealed to me.....

Deanna OBVIOUSLY didn't like the REM song that she sang, and INXS made a point of telling her how close they are with that group. She disappointed them - and me too. I did like the softer, intense parts of that song as she sang it. I think she has the chops for this job, if she can improve her attitude.

Jordiss - I absolutely love her. I agree with you completely. I'd seriously like to meet her, she's that appealing, and her voice is AWESOME! The only thing about the INXS gig is that it may not have enough future in it for her. Maybe she should go solo, seriously. I think it's cute that that guy in INXS said he thought he loved her, hahah........

Jessica is completely unappealing to me, much like Tara, but sleazier. You know what? I sense that the Lord has his hand on her - I think there will come a time in her life that she will regret all of this kind of stuff she's doing with her body.... When I see her, I want to pray for her.... I see a really good little girl whose life has gotten far away from what it's supposed to be.....

Wow, it totally gave me goosebumps that you got the same vibe from him as I did!!! He really reminds me of the lead singer of Joy Division.

J.D. has lost some of his lustre for me- but it's not because of his "I don't have to learn the songs because I love them" comment. It's because of his deceptive 'kindness' to Jordiss which was disguised selfishness over realizing he couldn't pull off we are the champions and wanting to switch songs. His "I feel bad" LIE will come back to haunt him. I have a feeling that if he doesn't get off the sauce, he's gonna be in BIG trouble.

Poor Brandon- I hope he pulls off "tempted" I LOVE that song.

I really enjoyed watching the "house" part of the show for the first time. I could handle an hour of it to flesh it out some. Looking forward to the rock and roll though!

Yep.JD has lost his edge.My wife says he's out of the running and should be the next to go.His attempt at "We are the Champions " was pittifull!Poor guy. So,who do you think will win now?
If that hillbilly guy would shave and get a haircut,he might be more apt to contend.
Jordis could sing that Queen song.
The next show should be very interesting.

Hi, y'all..... I thought overall tonight's vocals were below standard. I wonder what kind of party they had last night....

Here are my critiques:

Jordiss - She's just plain awesome. Great voice, great smile, great affinity with the audience.... Again, I think she might be too young for this band, but I feel she could have a big future.... If I could afford to produce her, I would.

Suzie - looks like she's been hanging around with Jessica too much.... sheesh.... and the harmonica wasn't that great.... but she did okay, considering only Stevie Wonder should be allowed to sing that song imho......

Jessica - much improved - but what's with the bustier? It looks like she got in a fight with an emu and lost....

MiG - it really took guts to mess with "Lola." The beginning was a little weak, but I felt he pulled it off. (no pun intended)

Brandon - I think he's good, but he's not right for INXS. And soul's not his gig. He has kind of a narrow style: way too American.

Ty - I think he has a great voice, and he had to kind of dumb it down for the REM song, but he did okay. He's just not believable in that low-key, accoustic setting.

Heather - Actually, I loved her rendition of this song. She kinda Concrete-Blonded it, if you know what I mean, and I believed it. I felt the guys were too hard on her. But then again, I still believe she's a solo act. I would REALLY like to see some original material out of her.

JD - JD, JD, JD.... He is so emotional, it's kind of cute. I thought the beginning was very weak and he's still way cocky. The middle of the song was very good, but then like he said, he lost it. You can't lose it. Even if your grandma shows up.

Deanna - This song was her first choice? She was awesome the second time she performed, and I think they are right, she doesn't know her own power. But this song was a poor choice for her. I think the vocal workshop will be very good for her.

Daphna - I actually liked her version of "Casba." It was very different. And I thought the dress was a great wardrobe choice. I like her style. But I agree with the fellas that she's not utilizing the great tool that she has in her voice.

Tara - I'm still not terribly impressed with her. I think the reason she keeps getting the shaft on songs is because she doesn't have a strong personality - not strong enough to be the front person for a major band.

Marty - I actually logged on to vote for him tonight. I thought he was brilliant, and the way he performed seemed to me like a tribute to Cobain. I actually almost teared up. He got a little bit of JD's attitude there at the end, when he was talking with Navarro, but I think he was feeling vulnerable after that song, so I'll excuse him. This time.

I'm so glad there's no more Neal. eww.

I think the real race now is between Jordiss, MiG, and Marty.

I have to agree that tonight's performances were below average as well. Disappointing.

Jordiss- she knows how to get things started with a bang! loved the chances she took tonight- brave and effective! I noticed her missed line as well but as Navarro said WHO CARES????? I think her youth could work against her if she was immature but she seems to have some wisdom. Her youth with INXS's "older" crowd could expand their market totally...

Susie- yeah- if you can't play harmonica, please leave it at home. I thought the "goth" style with the harmonica was hilarious. although I somewhat liked the performance - it seemed the essence of soul was missing from it.

Jessica- standing up:clap: and clapping for her. Here's what I wrote on my "critique sheet" tonight ----- "Less sl*tty, more music!" wonderful vocals on a song I really love. very impressed. HOpe she keeps it up- could it have been prayer???????????????????

Mig- totally fun performance funky and different- I enjoyed it- great jacket too

Brandon- poor Brandon- what a horrible pitchy mess that was. no energy- he knew he stunk- He takes criticism well though.....

Ty- I love that song and I thought he did a pretty good job but I didn't really BELIEVE him when he sang that everybody hurts, you know? I thought the "U" of hurts was held for too long- it was a little painful for a brief second. I know he can do better

Heather- one word- blech
low notes too strained- it was a train wreck- no energy and the lifting the dress after she finished was just cheap

J.D. bloody awful- off key and WHAT a butt kisser- "I sang it because we ALL are the champions" aye yi yi- I'll need to see some genuine humility to get back on his good side- either that or complete brilliance- preferably both- I also want to point out that his drunkeness was the result of choosing the "cockiest" song after being told he comes off too cocky

Deanna- I agree, I can't beleive that was her first choice either. she's got the star quality- she just doesn't know it yet - her performance totally bored me

Daphna- hated her rendition of Casbah- liked the dress though

Tara- just doesn't do it for me at all- she doesn't have the IT factor- and the famous line "wham bam thank you mam" ? totally blew it.

Marty- I liked his performance even though I felt it was slightly pitchy- the screaming was great- I hate the way people call Nirvana's music "sacred" though

the worst for me? J.D., Daphna, Brandon but really there are many more to choose from! I hope they step it up next week!!!!!

My favourite performances this week? JOrdis and Jessica:thumbsup:
