CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

but there is rock music that doesnt do that. christian rock (and other genres) dont promote those things.
do you still think ALL rock is bad or just the rock that promotes those things?

not ALL rock is bad... Some secular Rock doesn't promote sex drugs etc.. well at least I dont think so... LOL.. But rock is just a Genre of music its doesnt label the content in the lyrics just the type of music it is...

There's a difference between being not of the world and wrapped up in cotton wool.
If ALL rock music makes you want to have sex and use drugs then by all means don't listen, but don't believe that it counts for us all.

Hmmm, I always find it really strange when certain people say that a particular type of music is bad and that it causes people to do stuff. Marilyn Manson made me do it and things like that. I wonder what would happen if someone went on a killing spree and then found out that they listened to Bach right before it. Would we warn people of the evils of classical music?
I used to listen to a lot of punk rock bands on Tooth and Nail records...a Christian label. When they weren't that big, I would listen to punk bands screaming about how Jesus loves you and things like that. Music is a vehicle...and people have different tastes....for those kids who like punk or rock music and are Christian, isn't it a good thing that they get to listen to it with lyrics that are positive and they can relate too? Or could it maybe be a vehicle that turns someone to Christianity because of the love of the music? Maybe...but not in the OP. Rock is bad. End of discussion. I also often wonder why these threads are started....the statement is rock is bad....discuss...the person who makes the OP doesn't provide evidence and really, evidence isn't required in this kind of discussion....music is a matter of taste. I HATE Country music...and I can't stand it if it's Christian or singing about your dead dog and your woman leaving you. I just don't like the music. Does that mean that I should start a thread that says...Country music is bad...and wait for people to shoot me down because I don't have a taste for it?
