what's a Ogrok?
----

"We're totally cut-off!" Ellome said, panic rising in him.
Shapes moved ominously all around them and Nyanie tightened her hold onto the rein. The shadows seemed to be everywhere.

"Stay close, they may not know where we're, yet," Rylan instructed, nocking an arrow.
Behind them, the sound of a horn was carried on the wind, and Hyine grunted. Suddenly, shapes burst out of the surrounding trees, and Rylan let fly his arrow before the Ogrok even emerged from behind a tree. The force of the arrow knocked it down onto its back. Nyanie's dagger took one in the throat, and Ellome slashed at a dashing Ogrok with his sword. They didn't tarry, turning, the group galloped away from their pursuers and Rylan kept firing.

Great posts! Wow! You guya's are all really good writers! Let's see if I can congure up something....

Rebecca picked up her sword, and turrned in time to block a blow from a rather lage Orgrock. Rebecca slashed it's throat, and rolled out of the way of another blow from an Orgrock. She slashed it's ankle, picled up it's sword and blocked two blows at the same time. Rebecca cut both of their throats, and stabbed another in the stomach. The whole group was killing them off easily. The only problem was...they kept comming. And in greater numbers.

i see! thanks for the infor, Kookaburra.
----
Elrea arrived behind the massing army and stayed a distance away from the party. Using her innate magic, she reached out and "saw", sort of sensed, the targets. A group was moving away from the main group standing at the ruined tower. Elrea frowned, *looks like there needs to be a bit tidying up before she can move on*

she's the evil character that i created, her stats is one to two pages back.
i'm borrowing Arannte here, if you don't mind.
----

"There!" Ellome shouted, and his horse jumped over a huge fallen log at full speed. The others followed just a split second after. Rylan slang his bow across his back and felt his quiver, it was only half filled. Behind, the Orgorks similarly jumped over the log, and were either flattened as they bumped into it, or managed to keep their running pace as some landed smoothly over the obstacle.

"The horses won't last forever," Nyanie said. Suddenly, she sensed a tingling at the back of her mind, and a warning flared. It was similar to Arannte's call earlier on, and Nyanie's eyes widened as she realised that it was Arannte. Still galloping, she concentrated.
"Turn!" Nyanie screamed, and the group about her stared at her incredulously.
"Turn?" Ellome said in amazement, "But we have those monsters behind us!"
"Unless you don't want to die!" Nyanie snapped, and she turned her horse sideway, plunging into the thick forest.
"Nyanie!" Rylan shouted, he was firing again. Signing, Hyine pulled at Ellome's sleeve, and the two plunged in after Nyanie. Almost instantly, the trail that they were following before burst outward. Soil, tree roots and logs flew up into the air, and the ground shook.
----

Elrea made a vex sound as her targets escaped the spell. She was so sure that she'd have gotten them, it was not usual that she missed. Concentrating, she aimed again, this time she won't miss.
----

"This way," Nyanie said, she could hear Arannte's warning clearly. The group followed into the pursuing Orgocks, who hacked at them as they rode past. Again, the earth erupted, this time behind them, and some of their enemies were destroyed.
----

A surprise crossed Elrea's face, but instantly she was all composed. Some of the Orgocks (supposed to be on her side but they didn't know about her) were killed, and she hardly felt anything. Her target was the most lucky group, and she grounded her teeth. Something was interfering, but who?

Elrea's bio is on page 11, just so you know. :)
----
Arannte lifted the horn to her lips again, and Rebecca did likewise. The two notes together echoing over the hills. Arannte's was low, deep and mysterious--enough to make the fiercest tremble, and Rebecca's was higher and more musical, yet piercing--many knew that horn and would quail.
"Why are we doing this again?" Rebecca asked, lowering the horn.
"If I can warn the Chyska's of our presence, they will come."
"Chyskas? Here?" she asked no more.
----
The horses were neck-and-neck, racing across the turf, avoiding the Ogrok's that dared to stand before them, their rather clumsy, thick legs not near fast enough to keep up with the flying riders.
"This way!" Nyanie was shouting to be heard.
They wheeled their horses and almost flew over the ground, a loud peal of thunder echoing through the air above them as the earth shattered behind them and threw chunks their way.
Ellome dodged such a piece before he lifted his head. The site that greeted him made him almost lose his balance.
The earth had split on either side of them, and they were riding on a narrow catwalk between the two abysses. The ground they were on was solid and wide enough that they could ride comfortably. He looked around--the others were urging their mounts on, who were still at a gallop.
----
Arannte's cloak swirled around her as she heard Robin behind her say in the darkness, "What devilry is this?"
Rebecca held up her hand to silence him. "Don't ask until we're safely out of here."
The group peered out from between the battlements, except for Arannte and Rebecca, who dared to climb the central spire.
Arannte stood on a narrow ledge above the other's heads, looking out over the battlefield. For now the Ogroks had left them alone, and many lay slain outside the ruined tower.
Even and Henry remained on the lower level, watching from there.
"Come." Arannte said finally. "They're almost here."
"Yes?"
"Let's gather the arrows."
Quickly, they jumped down and picked up the Ogrok arrows that had been wasted, and they put them in a pile for their use.
Arannte's eyes glinted as she wrapped a piece of old, tattered cloth around an arrow. She had a large pile of wood in the center of the circle, and she lit a portion. Rebecca caught on and grabbed more wood and the old sailcloth lying around. Thick weeds that were growing up through the cracks were also uprooted and vines as well.
Robin was interested, and he helped them stockpile up more arrows.
Nightmare and Mystic were also on the upper floor, having ridden up the stone ramp. They stamped their hooves impatiently and snuffed at the pools of water that were gathered in the lower areas.

Okay, I'm back! Time to post about Robin.

Robin took two arrows out of his quiver, and turrned. Two Orgrocks were charging at him, full speed. He bit half of one feather off, strung his bow with the two arrows and fired. One arrow went to the left, and got the first Orgrock, the other went straight and got the second Orgrock. Robin turrned once more and just in time! He was barley able to duck before the sword of an Orgrock came slashing at him. Robin took an arrow and sliced the leg, and then used the same arrow again to stab him in the throat. Robin stood and stopped. An Orgrock had pinned Rebecca to the ground, and was fighting to keep her pinned. Rebecca's sword was well out of reach of either of them. The Orgrock was weaponless, as was Rebecca. Robin strung his bow and was getting read to fire, when something told him to duck. He did, and was got off guard by two Orgrocks. Robin aimed up at one, shot it in the head and then shot the other as well. When he stood he strung his bow and aimed once more at the Orgrock that had Rebecca pinned. Robin fired, and got it in the head. Rebecca rolled out of the way of a blow, grabbed her sword and stabbed another Orgrock in the stomach. She stood, smiled and nodded her thanks to Robin. Robin smiled and nodded back.

Rebecca tried her hardest to keep her sword in her hand. There were to many Orgrocks, and to few of them to fight the creatures off. No sooner had she pulled her sword from one Orgrock, she'd have to stab another. Rebecca was thankfull for Robin. He'd helped her in many scenarios, when she needed it. And in return she'd helped him too.
Rebecca turrned and saw an Orgrock running her direction. It caught her off guard, knocked her sword from her hand and had cornered her. When he was ready to make the kiling blow, Rebecca pointed behind him and said, "What in the world can that be?" The Orgrock lwered his sword and looked behind him. Rebecca kicked it in the groin, knocked it's sword from it's hand, got her own sword and sliced it's head off. Rebecca looked everywhere for her horse. She finally spotted her, her reigns wrapped around a nail sticking out from a board. Rebecca ran through the crowd of Orgrocks until she reached Mystic. She unwrapped Mystic's reigns, mounted her and rode through the sea of Orgrocks, slicing everyone within reach. This worked for a while, until out of nowhere an Orgrock jumped on Mystic's back, pushing Rebecca off. The Orgrock jumped off and walked over to Rebecca who had since grabbed her sword and was now standing up. The Orgrock swung a blow to the head, but Rebecca darted to the right, avoiding it. The Orgrock faked a left, and when Rebecca went right, he stabed her in the shoulder. Rebecca winced in pain. The Orgrock removed his sword. Blood soaked through her cotton sleeve, stainging the fabric. Rebecca used all her strength to block the next blow. She finally was able to stab him in the head. Rebecca paused a moment before sumoning all of her strength to keep fighting. Soon she became weary, and her head started spinning. Her eye sight became a little blurry, and she could barley keep her balance. Rebecca tried as hard as she could to stay concious, and fight. Suddenly, everything went black.

Robin sliced an Orgrock's throat and blocked another's blow. He stabbed that one and looked around for Rebecca, incase she needed help. But he couldn't see her. Where is she? he thought. Suddenly, he saw her. She was laying on the ground, a small puddle of blood forming around her left shoulder. Robin strung his bow and shot the nearest Orgrock. He then ran to her side. He cheaked for a pulse. She had a steady one. He wrapped her shoulder to stop the bleeding, and then carried her to a safe spot in the tower. There he stayed.

Arannte's sharp eyes saw Rebecca go down, but she had no chance of getting down to her from her perch on the spire. She had a wonderful position--the stockpile of arrows beside her and the fire there as well. She dipped an arrow into the flames and then lifted it out. She lit another and then strung them on her bow, from which she fired into the milling Ogroks that had since rushed up again to attack.
A shriek was heard, and an Ogrok stumbled back off a crumbling section of masonry, clutching his stomach as two arrows seemed to grow out of his stomach--one of Arannte's and one of Robin's.
She could see Robin below, fighting to get to the collapsed Rebecca. She used a bit of magic to confuse the ogroks, allowing him time to catch her up and drag her to a safe spot--a low section of wall stuck out of the tower's roof below Arannte, making a perfect place to defend and hide behind while still being able to see around.
The ogroks were milling in confusion, and Arannte took advantage of this to bring down more with her flaming arrows that seemed to come out of nowhere.
She could sense someone with strong magic was pitted against her, and she knew the other group had little time to reach safety.
Then she heard the hooves on stone below her, and she spun on her heel. The other group had made it to the tower and were fighting their way up the ramp to the top.
Arannte concentrated her arrows on the spot, driving the ogroks back.
She could see blood on Arannte, and made sure she kept some of the ogroks away that Robin mightn't have handled.
Suddenly, three ogroks leapt down on her small ledge from a flying beast.
Ducking, she stabbed one with her left hand, while she released a firey arrow into the air. She kicked some of the fire into the others and turned to see a small dragon crash into the ground, the flaming arrow caught in the soft lining of his throat.
One of the ogroks toppled over the edge, breaking his neck in the melee below, as the other made for Arannte. She dodged and parried his clumsy thrust, and blocked another. He came back for more, and she spared him no steel. She ducked a swift stab, spun, dropped and shot out her javalin.
He stumbled and fell, coming up for her next punch, which caught him in the gut. His face turned green and he gasped for air as she finished him off with a upper right with her right and dirty roundhouse kick with her left foot.
His neck snapped back and she loosed an arrow at the same time. It shot through him and the already bloodstained shaft caught a goblin behind him.
An enemy arrow was not wholly wasted, however, as it caught her in her thigh. She merely smiled grimly and snapped it, pulling it out swiftly as blood stained her leg.
She could hear the sound of the chanting from the hills, and it was welcome.
----
The battle-hardened face of the leading warrior faded into darkness as he raised his sword, glinting red in the moonlight as he charged ahead of a group of twenty horseback riders. Spears poised, daggers and swords raised, arrows notched as they descended on the flanks of the enemy.
From the other side of the battle, similer cries were heard as another band descended on the other end.
The ogroks drew back from the menace, not prepared to fight such a large group. They withdrew into the dark, leaving Elrea seething as the magic-practising warriors caused the ground to swollow five more of her allies.

Earth flew out and suddenly they were left standing on a catwalk. Things didn't seem to be getting better as the earth kept erupting in front and behind them. Nyanie didn't stop and the group pushed on, with Rylan bringing up the rear. As they rode on, they could sense that somehow they were back on the right track again, and were heading straight to the tower. Nyanie pulled on the rein of her horse when an Ogrok appeared right in front of the path. Her horse shied away and Nyanie almost fell off when Rylan's arrow went flying past her hand to be buried into the enemy's forehead.

Rylan grimaced, there were only three arrows left and they still hadn't reached safety yet.
"Get behind," Hyine sang out, and Nyanie nodded, falling in between Ellome, Hyine and Rylan.
----

Elrea watched and seethed. Everything was going into ruins and she kept missing her targets. Someone had to pay.
