what would you consider a Righteousness that exceeds the righteousness of the pharisees and religious ( outer religious act with no sincerity of heart) leaders?

for me - firstly it is based solely on faith in the lord Jesus and is made manifest by a heart that is simply willing to obey the Holy Spirit and not intellectually reason ones self an excuse for disobedience.

What you are saying is a fact. Jesus not only died for us He died for each one of us. Because He did you are viewed as righteous by the Father through the sacrifice of his Son. This is where abiding in him counts for everything.

don't overlook the part about such righteousness (based solely on faith) being made manifest by a heart willing to simply obey ;-)

there are a few issues i often wonder about - so im textualizing
(did i make that word up ?) them here .
as i have little interest in raising them in a congregation and causing strife -here is -i think a more neutral venue...

for one instance why do we (we- being a generalization of most Pentecostal fellowships) not use unleavened bread for communion?

there is absolutely nothing I know of in the scriptures to justify doing so .
now some may say i am being legalistic - but on the basis of the OP.. a heart willing to simply obey without making up intellectual reason to justify disobedience ...
why use leavened bread when leven(yeast) speaks of sin and the body of Christ is without sin etc
where is the willingness of heart to "simply obey"

Matthew 5:20
“For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

For The next which partly shows where the Pharisees righteousness was, to which our righteousness must exceed, I turn to Luke Chapter 11.
37. And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat.
38. And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.
39. And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.
40. Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?

The scribes and the Pharisees were outwardly correct but inwardly corrupt. Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount, shows us that in the sight of God any one who hates his brother is a murderer, and that he who has lust in his heart is an adulterer. The entire world stands guilty before these heart-searching words of His. To those however who look to Him for His tender mercy, He has provided not only forgiveness, but a perfect righteousness and a true holiness.

We must have Jesus Christ not only as our Savior, but as our LORD, too. Too many people want Him as a savior, but are not willing to let Him be Lord of their lives.

that's just sadly all too true .

and so many people say we or I believe such and such from the bible .. but they do not then obey what they claim to believe .

for instance , (and im not picking on them it is just a very visual and easy to see example ,so i use it .) the rcc says it "believes "there is only one mediator between man and God ..Jesus .
but their actions deny that they believe that - for they set up a hierarchy between man and God and say you must come to God through their heircachy .. so man ,church, priest, Christ ,God ... in absolute contradiction to thier declaration of belief -they set up another mediator .

its just one example . many associated Pentecostals declare belief in the Holy Spirit .. and then are the first to frown upon the manifestations and judge it as "not of God" .. i mean come on lol .. you either believe and prove you do by obedience ..or you don't believe ... take a stand folks
