P { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }A:link { } 2Tim 5:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good works.

It has become increasingly popular, as Satan has invaded the Church, to judge without scriptural basis. This is done in spite of the clear and correct instruction of the scriptures. Many, today, use the Lost Man's favorite verse, Matthew 7:1 to silence the Christian and to make him or her, very unprofitable in the service of the LORD. (1 Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why behold you the mote that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? 4 Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull out the mote out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the mote out of your brother's eye.)

In the seventh chapter there are a couple or more paragraphs and until we learn about context we can never properly understand what God is saying to us. i.e. I cannot read the latest Best Selling Novel by reading the first sentence and the last. This will not work, even, if I read the first and the last chapters. If I do this I might learn that Lefty walked into this, current, mess smoking a Camel and drove away smiling in his Old Buick... but I'm left with, “What happened?” This is also true of the Bible.

If we read Matthew 7:1 we learn that we need to shut up and not to disturb people. If we bother t read the first five verses we learn that before judging other we must seek to clean our own act up. Not that we do not judge but that we judge from the position of imputed righteousness. Where did I get that from?

2 Corinthians 5:21 - For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Isaiah 53:11 - He shall see of the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Philippians 3:9 - And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Just as Matthew 7:1-5 are essentially connected to the rest of chapter seven for understanding so it is that Chapters 5, 6, and 7 are connected to become the Sermon on the Mount. Then, to understand the depth to be found in this sermon we must realize the sermon can never be fully understood without the understanding found in the scriptures between Genesis 1:1 and the end of Revelation 22. it is safe to say that there is a context found in the scripture that lends it's whole meaning is about the salvation, redemption, of the souls of men ad women.

There are many other lessons to be consumed and then worked into our life styles but, from the beginning, God has had a plan of Eternal fellowship in place. After Adam sinned there can be no fellowship without redemption because of the sinful nature we inherit from him through our ancestors. There can be no salvation without the imputed righteousness of our Saviour and we cannot ever hope to judge with righteousness and I suggest to you that we cannot fully fulfill the Great Commission without our Submission to the leading of a righteous heart, righteously instructed and led by the Indwelling of the Holy spirit. This is not understood without reading all of scripture.

God says: "Judge not lest ye be judged", which is a message to the believers to not be making hasty judgments against another believer; however, we are to discern what is true and should try to share what we see as truth --to believers and non-believers, I see.

:amen: very well put Bill, we must consume all of scripture. People are like cattle in that if you turn a few head into a 40 acre pasture they will pick and choose what they like instead of eating all that is good for them. This is why a good solid Bible based church shepherded by a strong backboned pastor is so vital. That pastor will break down that 40 acres (The Bible) into small pastures, and concentrate the herd (The church) on the smaller bits encouraging them to eat it all. But unlike cattle, people have to choose to be led, they have to choose the right church with the right sheperd. They also must have a desire to do what is good and right.

So, what is your point? You appear to be saying I have lied or that I'm teaching heresy. Please, let's discuss this.

Let's steer clear of accusing self or anyone of lying, shall we?

1 Corinthians 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

As per your reference, Jesus was not saying that we can never judge: He is saying that don't be a hypocrite when you do judge, otherwise, it will go in one ear and out the other when people who judge, fail to live by example.

Note, He said pull out the beam in your own eye first and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.

If you want a clear teaching on Jesus giving us the responsibility of caring for one another in our walk with Him, there is this:

Matthew 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. 11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. 12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? 13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. 15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

Now this is the instruction to the churches to leave an unrepentant believer in His hands to finsh His work in them. This shunning is not saying they are unsaved or whatever, but they are to be admonished as saved.

Paul says this as well.

2 Thessalonians 3:1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;....14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Why still count the unrepentant believer or the former believer as a saved brother still? Because after the pre tribulational rapture event when many unrepentant and unabiding believers will be left behind as castaways, Jesus will go to seek that which was lost as He must because even though they believe not, He that abideth cannot deny Himself in them which is why Jesus will lose nothing of all the Father has given Him

2 Timothy 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

So there is need for correction towards one another to be done in Christ's love.

1 Corinthians 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

At this link is 1 Corinthians 5th chapter on judging a believer that is an unrepentant fornicator in the church.

1 Corinthians 5 KJV - It is reported commonly that there is - Bible Gateway

Something to consider about your application of Matthew 7th chapter since we are to judge in correcting one another but never to judge to comdemn a believer as not saved or whatever that dnies Him as having saved Him.

It is because they are saved is what spurs us to correct a believer in sin.

1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

WOW! Your first post appeared as a rebuke so are you rebuking me by saying the same thing I began with but indifferent words? This seems a strange way to address a brother.

I was referring first to your reply to another poster; "1watchman". We are to avoid biting & devouring one another so why goad the poster to the topic of calling you a liar or something? We all prophesy in part & know in part so just because someone is not well edified is hardly any grounds to condemn yourself or anyone as a liar, right?

Proverbs 27:17Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

By that reply to that poster, it seemed like you were disagreeing with that poster; 1watchman, but I do not believe that 1watchman was and neither was I, but if we are somehow still misunderstanding each other, then let us discuss the topic without insinuating deception on either one of us.

If there is a difference in how we are presenting the topic of judging one another in correcting one another, then let us do that in Christ's love just as that topic of judging one another is to be done in Christ's love.

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

I was going to do you the courtesy i thought you had not done for me but I notice the post in question has been removed leaving me to give you the benefit of the doubt. You might have quoted my post so that I would know what you spoke of but it appears the English Moderators still find my honesty, based on scripture, distasteful. Since I am suffering from a serious case of MS and the post is missing I cannot speak intelligently to your replies.

My reply seems to have gone missing, I'll try again. Did you, honestly, not read the OP to understand? I likely did not do your attack on the Word of God justice because I do recall praying for you to respond that we might go deeper because I was tired and I was trying to throw up my toenails when I replied.

I was quite clear in the OP that the worldly position is not the truth, not in any manor. Now I might hurt feelings but the simple truth is, you, in, I'm sure, your sweetest manor, have accused me of lying. In Texas we will tell you, "'Tain't true!"

If you will do me the courtesy of reading the OP with the purpose to understand, I'm certain that if you follow the Christ and if you are fully submitted to our God you will withdraw your statement. You have u8sed one verse of the Sermon on the Mount, completely out of context.
