  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Riddle - Can you guess the answer?

Oh oh! He said "you will boil me in water." That would cause a bit of confusion I bet.
If they did boil him in water that would make the statement true, which would mean he should have been fried. If they fry him, that would make the statement false, which would mean he should have been boiled.

It's confusing me as I read it...

Hi Everyone. I'll get back to you on that one.

Oh no, I've got it. He said, "You're gonna boil me in water." If they did then it would be true and they would have to fry him in oil which would then make the statement false and they would have to boil him in water which would then... If they didn't it would be false which would mean they would have to boil him in the water which would make the statement true and they would have to fry him in oil which would make the statement false, and they would have to boil him in water and then they would... SO CONFUSED!!!

Oops... sorry that answer has already been given. Please forgive me.

An old farmer died and left 17 cows to his three sons. In his will, the farmer stated that his oldest son should get 1/2, his middle son should get 1/3, and his youngest son should get 1/9 of all the cows. The sons, who did not want to end up with half cows, sat for days trying to figure out how many cows each of them should get.

One day, their neighbour came by to see how they were doing after their father's death. The three sons told him their problem. After thinking for a while, the neighbour said: "I'll be right back!" He went away, and when he came back, the three sons could divide the cows according to their father's will, and in such a way that each of them got a whole number of cows.

The Question: What was the neighbour's solution?
