  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't follow many teachers but Richard Rohr is one I do.
He certainly does have a good grasp on life and faith.

He does fit into the Emergent church philosophy while retaining his affiliations with the Catholic Church. Funny how 90% of what he says goes against all modern Christianity while more fully explaining the reality of it at the same time.

We would all benefit from Richard's perspectives.

Thanx for posting!!

“The ultimate sin is to think we are separate from one another, any race, any religion,” Rohr told the crowd.

Some will say that is a controversial statement. Rohr himself must feel like an outsider sometimes compared to some of the more conservative clergy. I sense that he likes being different, separate anyway. Hypocrisy? Or am I misreading this?

I like just about everything Rohr said in the article, I agree with his point of view. I wonder if, at the end of the article, he is not being overly optimistic, saying "I do believe that God is saving the world, and God goes on working."

If that is true, God has a strange way of saving us. Or perhaps as he seems to be saying, we (including so-called Christians and other religious people) are going all out in so many ways to thwart God.
