Has anyone ever thought the New Testament was written in different ways, one way for the Jews ie- thought provoking parables linking directly back to the Hebrew scriptures, and deliberately meant to appeal to them.

...and another way which has been interpruted by believers since the resurection as spiritual, ie- the spiritual message behind the story which is meant to guide believers and keep them strong in the faith?

I was on another forum and someone had brought up this site [I had never of M. Blume before I saw this] and what he says here is, in my humble view, quite accurate

The richman/lazarus parable has so many allusions to the Jewish Hebrew book of Revelation, I could probably write a whole book on the similarities.....AWSOME!

THE SYMBOLISM IN BOOK OF REVELATION

One man studied and found 348 allusions (not illusions, Light) in Revelation from the Old Testament. You see the similarity in wording and the context mirrored in Revelation and the particular Old Testament story, and immediately can recognize the reference source! That’s, IF you know the bible well enough to even notice that.

95 of the 348 plain references used in Revelation as taken from the Old Testament are repeated in Revelation. That makes about 250 Old Testament passages are cited. How many chapters are in Revelation? 22. That makes about TEN OLD TESTAMENT REFERENCES FOR EVERY CHAPTER!

According to the Jewish/Hebrew book of Revelation, there is indeed a place like that.

That parable is also the only place where it shows both a Person and People in torments. I hope more members can posts their views on this.........

Luke 16:24 And he sounding said "Father Abraham! be thou merciful to-me! and send Lazarus! that he should be dipping the tip of the finger of him of water and should be cooling down the tongue of me that I am being pained in the Flame this."

Luke 16:26 And upon all of these between us and ye a great chasm hath been established.......

Reve 20:15 And if any not was found in the scroll of the Life having been written, he was cast into the lake of the fire.

Reve 14:11 And the smoke of the tormenting of them into ages of ages is ascending,
But I asked if you believed it?

\To point up the fact it is NOT a parable. Sorry, I don't know how else to phrase it for you to understand.
Question: Do you believe in a hell as a place of eternal torment?
That is not the topic of this thread, but you could start one and make a poll on it
Wow! I did a keyword search for "hell" on the GT board and was quite amazed at the number of threads on it.

The thread below seems to be one of the largest ones so I bumped it up

Showing results of "hell" 1 to 25 of 221 on GT board

There is no hell.

Your evading my question leaves me no choice except to believe you don't believe in hell as given in scripture. That explains your view on the rich man and Lazarus.
And I say again, that is not the topic of this thread.

Btw, have you ever asked the non-Christian Jews concerning their version of "hell" ;)

Matthew 3:7 Being aware yet many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming upon the baptism of him he said to them "produce of vipers! who shows to ye to be fleeing from the being about/melloushV <3195> (5723) Wrath

Matt 23:33 "Serpents! produce of vipers! how? ye may be fleeing from the judging of the geennhV <1067>"

Revelation 14:11 And the Smoke of the tormenting of Them is ascending into Ages to-Ages.

But it is the foundation upon which it is built upon. Creating doubt is a way subverting the truth. You are creating doubt, even in the title.
HUH?

Matthew 21:21 Answering the Jesus said to them "verily I am saying to ye, if ever ye may be having Faith and no ye may be doubting, not only the of the fig-tree ye shall be doing, but even-ever to the Mountain, this ye may saying 'be being lifted up! and be being cast! into the Sea' it shall be becoming" [Revelation 8:8]

Reve 8:8 And the second Messenger trumpets and as-like a Mountain, great to fire burning, was cast into the Sea and became the third of the Sea blood [Matthew 21:21/Hebrew 12:18]

The post addressed to me is rather confounding. How do I create any more doubt than any other Christian on CF does?

Unclear motivations will do that sort of thing. What reason do you ask the question if your mind is already made up?
What do you yourself believe my motivations are concerning this thread? And welcome to CF btw....

Cross Reference, please try not to be so suspicious about people motives. There are many things each and every one of us disagree on, but surely it's fine to present an idea as long as the bible is used to back up that idea. The bible is what holds us together, its Gods word on Earth. If we see different interpretations on certain passages, that's God's plan, but at least we spread his word to others.

Thank you, and I don't know. You are unclear.
A lot of the Parables Jesus spoke to the Judeans/OC Israelites were also unclear, correct?

Mark 4:13 And He is saying to them "not ye have perceived the parable, this.
And how? all the parables ye shall be knowing"
