  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Revival", a definition:

"A Christian revival is a moment in history when 1) the hearts of many of God’s people are awakened to greater love and commitment to Christ, 2) many who consider themselves Christians (but are not) get converted and 3) many people who have never known Christ are drawn to faith in Christ through what God is doing in his people."

Is America on the Brink of Another Jesus Revolution?

By Greg Laurie

The last great spiritual awakening in America was the Jesus Movement, which began more than five decades ago. I came to Christ during this time. I had a front-row seat, and I believe we can not only learn from history but also be inspired by it.

A few years before this movement took root, on April 8, 1966, a Time magazine cover posed a chilling question: “Is God Dead?” What a difference a few years can make, especially when God intervenes. On June 21, 1971, the words “Jesus Revolution” made the cover of Time with an article describing a very different scene, “Jesus is alive and well and living in the radiant spiritual fervor of a growing number of young Americans. . . If any one mark clearly identifies them, it is their total belief in an awesome, supernatural Jesus Christ, not just a marvelous man who lived 2,000 years ago, but a living God.”

Today, things are changing in America, and they’re changing for the better. There’s a new wind blowing across the nation, not only for the older generation, but among the young as well.

The last time I felt such cultural stirring was during the Jesus Movement. And it is my prayer that we are headed toward another great spiritual awakening.

With all of the bad stuff going on, some good is really needed.

I don’t believe a revival is underway. There was a lot of media coverage in light of his death but we’ll return to normal in a week or so. You won’t see stories on your feed on the subject and they’ll move on to something else.

Stories in the feed don't always reveal what's happening deeper down. Stories in the feed are mostly about bleeding and destruction and hate. That other stuff that isn't in the feed you have to get in other ways.

The algorithm is pretty responsive and delivers what we consume. Nevertheless, christians aren’t united on the subject nor does the right represent everyone. It’s just a segment and you’ll find an equal measure of disagreement too. If you believe otherwise and want to lend your support or get involved you should.

The 'algorithm' responds to our morbid curiosities more than anything. And our inherent desires for conflict.
Nevertheless, christians aren’t united on the subject
Of course not. A 'Catholic' revival would not be pleasing to many Protestants.
... nor does the right represent everyone.
Who cares about the political Right? Well, far too many people. Those who swear by the Right and those who swear against it. Jesus might not fit in those categories and a real revival may not either.
It’s just a segment and you’ll find an equal measure of disagreement too. If you believe otherwise and want to lend your support or get involved you should.

Just an FYI:
The article I posted, by Greg Laurie, was written on February 20, 2025.
Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025.
So .... it was written well in advance of "his" death, with Greg having no prior knowledge of it.

I began seeing reports of revival happening, BEFORE Charlie's death ...
and I expect to continue to see them for long afterwards.

Respect your opinion, and mine differs.

True believers in Jesus Christ will all be united one day ... and we will spend eternity in heaven forever united.
I truly look forward to that day. :sparklingheart:

There is no denying ... there are currently many 'on fire' believers ... both Protestant and Catholic ... associated with the current administration, and within the 'Charlie Kirk' circle of influence. I mention those, because those are the ones presently most seen in the mainstream media. But alternative news sources are filled with them, too, and many have become even more vocal about their faith since the assassination.

A notable 'shift' has happened, and it started well before Charlie's assassination. But God appears now to be using that tragedy for His good, also. The Holy Spirit is 'moving' ... that is what I discern ... and any kind of 'move' in this positive direction is just too good not to report and celebrate abit!

I do agree that true believers will be excited about any revival. And there may be one beginning in the here and now as a result of Turning Point and Charlie Kirk.

Respect your opinion, and mine differs.

The bible likens believers to sheep for a reason. Much like it warns us to be wise as serpents. When you look at the two they’re very different. One is known for its cunning and the other for its docility. One lies in wait and the other goes where it’s led. One is the predator and the other is prey.

I don’t have opinions per se. I have principles that I live by that advance my course and minimize calamity. There’s very little that I think about that doesn’t impact me directly or has the potential for a domino effect which may be advantageous or costly. With that in mind, the subject of revival as it pertains to the piece raises one question.

If the Lord is at work I don’t need an article to inform me. The fruit will do its job and make it clear and the news will carry it in all directions. The winds will testify and its a spiritual precursor for change on that level. Rest assured, if a revival is underway alarms will follow.

Buy in is powerful and I’m not quick to believe because emotion lowers your guard. You become attached to ideas, people and outcomes and emotionally invested. Which leads to debates and arguments because you’re in your feelings. And the underlying influence is usually fear or lack. That‘s what fuels it.

I don’t need to believe in revival because I’m not afraid if we don’t turn things around. Much like I don’t need to believe in politicians because my fate isn’t tied to the nation. If it falls that doesn’t mean I go with it.

Me, too! I think it would be very *wonderful* to be alive to see it.

If/when/as it happens, I do think it will be the young people that God uses to bring it in.
Not unlike He did in the Jesus Movement days.

I have thought this long before the Charlie Kirk event, though that situation seems to support my belief.
Many in the younger generation today appear very 'hungry' for answers, hungry for truth.
And we know where they will find it ... in faith in Jesus Christ.

May it be so, for many.
:praying:
