Ok--it alls sounds good on having a sanctuary and I do have the convenience of absolute quiet on my property with no distractions. I'm just curious what people do when the Bible says ..pray without ceasing......That means anywhere and anytime and all the distractions of the world...literally. It means a life of prayer and a constant conversation with God. Do I do it? Not really.

Rad, you're viewing this in a law like manner but it shouldn't be like that.
Not really. I would think that anything said in the Bible could be law for the sake of argument. I think using what you said might be an excuse to not do that commands just because someone wants to put it under the Law umbrella.

That's not the point anyway. Even if a sanctuary is conducive to prayer and meditation I would think that the admonition of praying without ceasing was said for a reason and can be done anywhere.

But no one has said that you can only pray in the sanctuary, in fact no one has said anything like that at all.

But the FEELINGS you get when you're sitting in a darkened sanctuary, all alone, just you and God in HIS house...it's truly a special feeling.

And yeah, we Lutherans (well us Conservative bunch) aren't really into the whole "feelings worship" but...it's not the happy clappy kind of feel good ministry. In fact, some of my hardest times have come when I've been sitting in the sanctuary, surrounded by sinners just like me, where I've broken down and sobbed because of things done, things thought, people lead astray because of me. Feelings I could shake off, HAD shaken off, if I weren't in God's own house. HIS own place. Yes, He lives in each one of us but...this is HIS special place. And...well...it's nice to be in HIS place alone with HIM sometimes.

It's very much a personal thing and as I have a gazillion questions, the idea of having a learned man nearby to answer them would be nice. Besides, if you saw how many shoes I had, you'd realize my closet is out of the question. :p

I can attest to this. :p
