  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have heard the dating on Revelation is wrong..that it was written before 70 A.D. which actually makes more sense because of what they were about to go through...as you mentioned in your first post.

This is from a website on The Last Disciple...I have read thebook and waiting for the second to come out in the series which should be this month in fact:

One of the most foundational questions about the book of Revelation regards the date that John recieved the divine vision. Was Revelation written before or after the fall of the Temple in Jerusalem? Surely, in all Jewish history, this event ranks as the most devastating holocaust the Jews have faced. The ancient Jewish historian Josephus tells us the milions of Jews perished during the siege and fall, with the destruction of the temple mount, for all practical purposes of the organized Jewish religion lost its house of God and the place He had sanctioned as an altar for sacrifices to Him. In fact, the practice of the Jewish religion was radically altered forever. Yet, if writing his apocalyptic letter in 95 A.D. as tadition maintains, why would John be silent about this astouding horror? Why would he refer to the measuring of a temple that no longer existed?

If, however, as many respected historians argue, Revelations was written before the fall of the temple, it is easy to understand that the vision of John was a divine prophecy, written to comfort and inspire the seven churches and all the other believers during the upcoming tribulation of Nero's persecution and the siege and fall of the Temple. With this understanding, a look at the historial facts of the events that immediately followed the writing of Revelation reveals the straggering precision of many of the vision's prophecies, an astounding accuracy that also serves as compelling evidence for its divine inspiration.

Its really good and even if you don't agree with it in relation to when and why the book of Revelation was written, you won't even see it the same way again. In order to understand you really need to understand the OT..and the Jewish customs. Its a great read at any rate!

God bless

because by typing verse by verse...i learn better and can break it up better....

sorry...I posted that BEFORE I saw you saying this was how you studied...wasn't trying to be rude

Its just I thought message boards were to get feedback from other people...you could type verse by verse on notepad on your own computer...

so I am still confused. I didn't know this board allowed people to just post to themselves like this...sorry...I will start my own thread on a study of Revelation
