I simply believe John. He told us Mystery Babylon is that great city. In Chapter 14 to told us the "great city" was where Jesus was crucified. That settles it for me.

How so? "great" in the Greek just means "big". There are many big cities. One big city does not mean another big city is that first big city. Babylon is destroyed by fire yet Jerusalem is not. Jerusalem is not destroyed but continues to exist past the demise of Babylon. Babylon is not a literal city so for multiple reasons Jerusalem is not Babylon.

"Mystery Babylon" is only Mystery Babylon while the Beast and False Prophet are there deceiving the entire world. It is a play on words. While "Mystery Babylon can be totally destroyed and never seen again, the Physical city of Jerusalem can (and will be) destroyed, but rebuilt.

Of course there are many "great" cities, but NOT In the book of Revelation. There is only Jerusalem and "the cities of the world." Revelation is about Israel and Jerusalem for the most part. "Mystery Babylon" is Jerusalem for a time.

Babylon is destroyed by fire. Jerusalem is not destroyed by fire. Babylon ceases to exist while Jerusalem exists far past Babylon's destruction.
Babylon is described as a port city. Jerusalem is not, as is land locked.

Jerusalem is not Babylon. Both are "great" (large) cities and both have done evil but Jerusalem is called the holy city in Rev 11, and Babylon isn't and cannot ever be called holy because it is never holy.

Just wait and see. The "Holy City" of Jerusalem will become the seat of Satan while the Beast and False Prophet are there, and from there, Jerusalem, the entire world will be deceived.

The whole world will be Babylon for a while. It was called Holy before the trib and isnj't it the seat of Christ and the saints during the thousand years? Seems Jerusalem is only not the Holy city for the short period of the trib.

I agree that all cities are destroyed in the earthquake at the 7th bowl. But the focus of Revelation is primarily Jerusalem and Israel. Nine chapters cover the 70th week which is for Daniel's people. God has long meant for Jerusalem to lead people TO Him, but when the devil gets involved, just the opposite will take place. The Beast and False prophet, from the city of Jerusalem, will lead the world AWAY from God.

Not really. Things are happening to all the earth in the book of Revelation. The wording in Revelation 18 corresponds to wording in Isaiah 24, and the characteristics of what is depicted in chapter 18 of the book of Revelation corresponds to the cities of civilization through history. Jerusalem is faulty, but the rest of the cities in the world are just as much, and not less. God hates the worldliness, materialism, exploitation, destructiveness, and all rebellion with the godlessness. We were warned, people of God do not belong with it.

Babylon the Great is the spiritual kingdom of Satan and his angels. When Satan and his angels are cast down to the earth in Revelation 12:7-9, having a time/times/half times left, it is the Babylon is fallen, is fallen in Revelation 18.

Revelation 18 makes an analogy of how quickly Satan and his angels kingdom will come to an end, by comparing to the fall of a great and powerful trading city falls in a very short time.

When Satan and his angels are cast down to earth, the whole earth becomes infiltrated with their wickedness and evil, bringing the whole world against God, just like at the tower of babel, thinking nothing is impossible, in concert with the beast-king claim of having achieved God-hood.

So in short, Babylon the great is a spiritual kingdom.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

So we do have a sword, more powerful than anything, and not unarmed. Don't be discouraged. Victory in Jesus !

Yes, it is the spiritual kingdom of Satan, all the urban civilization we have is of the spiritual kingdom of Satan. It is godless, any who are really God's people are the exception there. Even those they bring in to be among them with conversion are often with a false salvation and would be those who come out from us because they were not of us. We are not where we belong. God's people must come out from Mystery Babylon, for that reason.

When Mystery Babylon falls with its collapse, while many would perish in their city, it will be with the rise of the antichrist beast enabled. How? Well I think that many would follow that one with any promise to rebuild from what remains, even if it is no matter what. And it would be with that which would be built up being thoroughly godless. God's people who separated should never come to join that! Persecution might reach some, we still hope for being caught up to be with Christ, which is really for us who are believers who are in Christ to be out from this world when God's judgment on the unrepentant, the rebellious, and the wicked in this world is coming, that redeemed are not under with being in Christ who bore everything for them. But we know believers might go through anything else, as indeed believes have at times in various places.
