HI :)

so lets get this thread started, when i was a kid i stole something from a friends brother i must have been around 12 at the time, i didn't think about this really until it popped in my head while i was out today! I'm not almost 24 and have been born again since i was 17!

the question i have is do i have to make restitution or is asking God for forgiveness in this situation good enough?

good question. Christ death was atonement for all sin, the idea of restitution is bringing works in to the act of your salvation, and thus unbiblical. That said, if the act of going to your friend and asking for his forgiveness could help lead him to the Lord, and make your friendship closer, or if he is a child of the Lord, help draw you both closer. It is a wonderful healing and Godly act to repent to others you have wronged and to seek their forgiveness, but the redemptive act for the salvation of your eternal soul was completed that day at Calvary

Josh has given you good advise. I was not saved until I was forty-five and much of my sin was committed in different countries of the world making person to person repentance to be an option, not in play. If I had the opportunity to go to a friend I had wronged, I would but it will not affect your salvation. It could be that if you do this you will have another crown to cast at the feet of Jesus.

Jesus forgives you, unless the brother knows it was you and has hard feeling about i would say no don't go to him, and here is why if he had know idea it is going to create friction between you. You will pay for that sin, you don't need to. Know this Jesus paid your debt your sin is covered, when he was being spit in the face and punched, mocked, whipped and nailed to the cross till death, that was payment for your sins. It is more than enough. If anything be filled with great Love for God for what he paid for you and be a good and faithful servant the best you can, none of us are good or faithful, but we try are hardest to be. Serve the Lord. I see no good coming from you going to your friend, place your passion else where and do not do it again, so you are repentant and try not to steal again ever.

I to stole a great deal when I was young, but I stopped, now to steal is repulsive to me. Learn from your mistake and grow, Love God and everyone else, that will do and show more fruit than going to your friend.

I know people who know me are saying and he is going into ministry.:)oye vay

I just think I see what the evil one is doing with you, satan appears as an angels of light, and some times what we think is the right action is the wrong one. I suspect your faith will be tested if you go to your friend.

Your debt is paid, let it go, if your thankful for that put that love into Jesus, read your Bible know Gods word, root it deeply in you, because you will be tested. and Have mercy when some steals from you.

Peace and Love
