  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Requesting prayer. In ER with hubby now

A branch whiplashed him in the eye when he was on the golf cart. He can’t see anything out of that eye now and the iris of the eye is a completely different color now. Asking for prayers that it’s nothing that is going to cause long term issues.

Thanks!

Everything checked out okay. His vision in his eye seems to be slowly returning. We are just supposed to watch for any other symptoms that may occur. Right now, his eyes are different colors. Reminds me of David Bowie. Lol Thanks for the prayers. :)

Oh wow. I'm glad his vision is returning as well. Please keep us updated. I will keep him in my prayers too and I will ask Saint Lucy, the patron saint of eyes, to pray for him.

This might be a bit undiplomatic, but I remember a story my old pastor related. He was really talking to somebody else and remarked "The jokes country people play are lethal!".

He went on "I was given a horse to ride with the assurance she was a placid old thing. So I got on and this nag went straight for the nearest overhanging branch!"

It reminds me a bit of your husbands accident on the golf cart, but it wasn't a horse.

The American actor, Henry Fonda, hated horses. Seems they always acted up somehow when he was on one, and he stated one time that he'd never met a horse yet that wasn't a natural-born killer.

Which was kind of ironic, considering the number of Westerns he starred in.....

Thanks everyone. His eye looks better today but his vision is still bad. We are going to try to get into an ophthalmologist. Today is his birthday and he’s not happy about it either. Lol

Just got back from the ophthalmologist. It a very serious injury. The phrase blunt force trauma was used. He needs to go back Monday. His vision is still a mess but he can at least see some things. I have to watch the blood level in his eye to make sure it does not rise again. If it does, I need to call the emergency number and get him in right away. His eyes need to be dialated everyday. Has to wear sunglasses during that time and he needs to sleep upright. They warned this could cause issues down the road but praying it doesn’t. They were surprised it did not knock him out as hard as it hit him. Thanks for the prayers everyone.

What a bummer birthday for your husband ...
but at least he has family near, to help, comfort, and encourage him.
:plus:

I'm guessing this is one birthday your hubby is not too likely to forget!
I hope his vision get better soon ...

:praying:

Probably bruised his eye.

Prayers.

I didn't see this.
No it’s not a bruise. The inside of his eye is bleeding. Can’t remember what the doctor called it. Thanks for the prayers!

Here is what the doctor called it:

Hyphema

A hyphema is bleeding inside the eye between the clear cornea and the colored iris.

It happens when blood collects between the iris, and pupil and cornea. The cornea is the clear dome covering of the eye that resembles a built-in contact lens. A hyphema usually happens when there’s damage to or a tear in the iris or pupil.

Hyphema can also develop if abnormal blood vessels spread in this area (neovascularization) and subsequently leak, as happens with diabetic eye disease and other conditions.

This kind of eye bleeding is less common and can affect your vision. Hyphema can partly or completely block sight. If left untreated, complications from a traumatic hyphema can cause permanent loss of vision.

SYMPTOMS OF HYPHEMA
  • eye pain
  • visible blood in front of the iris, pupil, or both
  • blood may not be noticeable if the hyphema is very small
  • blurry or blocked vision
  • cloudiness in eye
  • sensitivity to light

Here's hoping all goes well in the long term and your husband regains his full sigth with no complications.

I'm diabetic so I have to get my eyes tested every year to check for possible bleeding. So far touch wood  there are no signs of it. I had my last test a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks Bob. His vision is worse today. I don’t know why. But it’s really worrying him.
