  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Requesting prayer. In ER with hubby now

So we went out of town to the specialist and found out that the vision returning is due to the blood clot resolving itself. The specialist we are seeing specializes in the cornea. We are also being referred to another specialist that specializes in the retina. The reason? I guess we are looking at 2 surgeries. The first surgery will be performed about 30 minutes out of state by the surgeon that specializes in the retina. He will be removing the lens and replacing the zonules that keep the lens in place. He will put an artificial lens in place but he will not be able to see until the next surgery. It will be a month or so. After that, the next surgery will be scheduled out of town for the lens transplant. It’s then that his vision will be restored. He was warned this trauma can cause various problems down the road with glaucoma and he may have to wear glasses to tweak that eye’s vision. In the meantime. They have reduced some meds and he is only on two now. We are waiting to get set up with the retinol specialist and he will be monitored here for eye pressure. So at this point, we have3 separate doctors monitoring that eye until we can get him seen by the retina specialist and get started on all these surgeries which will be performed at hospitals under local anesthesia. Thanks again for all your prayers!

Having the lens replaced sounds a bit like cataract surgery. I had my cataracts done about 18 months ago. They weren't that bad but the doctor's advice was "Since you're diabetic if you're going to get your cataracts done you'd be better to get them done sooner rather than later."

So I did. I've got pretty sight although in my case one eye is now set for long sight and the other for short sight. The surgeon was concerned that if I went for multifocals I might not have as good a result as I'd like.

There were some irritating after effects but they soon wore off, although it took a long time for my right eye to stop drying out (it still does but only slightly).

So hopefully the lens replacement won't be too much of a hurdle.

His whole eye is traumatized. So while the lens replacement is similar, it going to be quite different. Last appointment they did an ultrasound on his eye so that’s where the retina specialist came in along with the two surgeries by each doctor. We are just taking it one step at a time.
