Reputation Maxed Out

Some Members have hit the Rep Cap (2147483647) (Integer), are we going to keep the Database variable as a Integer ? Or will they be modifying it to a bigint (Max Value 9,223,372,036,854,775,807)

I've asked the server tech to update it to a signed big int, but he has not responded yet. I will ask again.

PHP is already running in 64 bit mode so we're all clear there.

Though given that we can't give -Reps, why use a Signed Big Int, no one will ever go below 0

Please DON'T increase the rep cap. Does it make any sense that one person will be able to give 9 billion stars with a single rep?

Also, please change the name from "reputation." This is a GAME. "Game score" would be a more fitting name. These scores have nothing to do with reputation or character.

I have played this game for some time now. I've learned a lot, mostly about myself. But I've also seen the harm trying to achieve high "rep" scores does.

Please don't increase the cap. The excesses of gaming behavior will only get worse.

I agree and pointed it out yesterday, but it's up to the staff here to see if they will do it or not.

If a cap is kept in place, there will probably be some added incentive for maintaining the rep max.

I agree with DeShay and several others who have been PMing me. Please don't remove the rep cap.

The game will continue cap or no cap... you just remove part of the incentive for Site Supporter benefits once the max is reached. Reaching the cap whereever it is set will always be the goal of some who play... Even the most ardent players would find the 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 target a worthy goal requiring more posts for the site. If you want to slow the progress perhaps consider dropping *reps* back to 10/20 (For SS) Reps a day ? It was the jump to 40 Reps a day that radically increased the Rep games. I plan to play however it shakes out. I am for raising the cap

I have a better idea. Why not move "reputation" to the game forum where it belongs? Also change the name and above all take it off the right hand "fact sheet" that appears opposite our names. This is a game score. It has absolutely nothing to do with reputation or character.

Cap for me I totally agree with Tychicus...I mean it is one of the reasons I get on every day...I absolutly love repping people it makes some people feel good to be repped....you know....especially if it is their birthday!!!

Game scores are still *facts* when I came to CF those who had the high scores on the games had special icons that showed in all their posts. I agree the current *Reputation* scores have little to do with character or reputation... They are essentially game points...

I would love to see as many people in the prayer threads as I do in the reps. It would be wonderful. Time to return the reputation to when it meant a lot more. Pre 7/7/7 reputation rules. Call the current point recreation points or something. They surely are not what Erwin intended them to be. I know this because I spent lots of time enforcing those rep rules prior to 7/7/7 and I agreed with them.

This place needs control already. Who the heck is in charge. Make decision with thought not on the basis of public oppinion. Too many chiefs and not enough indians as my grandmother use to say. Only one person should drive at a time. Rise and Shine please...

I know that. Does that mean that good should be abandoned. I know more than you think. I am stating what it was to compare to what it is. This thread is advertised to make a comment I did. I have no problem with Reputation and Recreation points...

I'd like to see them both on posts... Put rep points at 10 a day and you have to spread them around... they will not grow fast that way...

Have it set up so we can opt in or out of either or both.

While I have not spent a lot of time in the prayer *threads* I have prayed a great deal for other here and for CF...
