We can read the unsealed legal documents.

But buried in this back and forth between Trump’s legal team and DOJ are two growing threats to Trump.

The first threat arises from DOJ’s seeking that Trump file an affidavit either confirming or denying the accuracy of the Mar-a-Lago document inventory. Such an affidavit could potentially foreclose Trump’s assertions that the FBI planted documents.

Trump has said it out loud that somebody 'did something'. His lawyers are unwilling to say anything.

He may take his residence there, but Mar-a-Lago is a private club with members. The image in question is of his office.

They could have done anything. Those same agents had been in that home 2 months before. and said nothing about any illegal activity. Still waiting for clear and convincing evidence.

And he didn't comply with their subpoena to produce the missing documents. From the filings it seems fairly clear that Trump and his employees worked to prevent the FBI from finding the documents. Expect a 18 USC 1519 to be part of the indictment.

Let's not get it twisted. There is a strong chance Trump will win the nomination. There is a stronger chance Trump will also be indicted. The GOP will rally behind Trump nevertheless simply because they are a party of no principal or direction. See the Jan6th skedaddling Josh Hawley's piece in the WaPo.

They lost the house and senate in 2018. They lost the presidency in 2020. They performed badly in 2022. Those loses were driven by independent voters. Yet, for some reason they think Hunter Biden and Fauci investigations are the pathway to 2024. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting a different result.

Look, this actually comes down to a matter of credibility. If you make a claim and say that there's evidence for that claim then people should expect you to have seen that evidence and to be able to produce it if asked. Rather than to spend post after post asking for verification. If it exists then it's important to the discussion. If it doesn't then apart from saying something exists when you know it doesn't you are wasting everyone's time and losing credibility into the bargain.

With one major exception, no one is going to cover up the Hunter laptop evidence this time, in fact Joe and Hunter may both be in prison by 2024, the evidence in that computer is hard to ignore.

Are some people pretending that was impeached? He was not so once again the charges did not hold up but that does not stop some people from making false claims.

Speaking at a Las Vegas meeting of the influential Republican Jewish Coalition, where party donors and fundraisers gathered to size up potential 2024 contenders including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, Levine told Reuters the midterms showed Trump remains deeply unpopular with a majority of voters.

"We have a lot more to do, and I have only begun to fight," DeSantis told the crowd without elaborating on his future plans.
He talked up his resounding re-election win earlier this month, where he beat his Democratic opponent by almost 20 points, arguing he can pull in nontraditional Republican voters.
But DeSantis made no mention of Trump. Pence likewise treaded carefully, boasting about the accomplishments of their administration and avoiding direct criticism of his former boss.

Others, including former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, were more disparaging of the one-term president.
"It is time to stop whispering," Christie told the gathering. "It is time to stop being afraid of any one person."
Trump's false claims that the 2020 election was fraudulent had "diminished" the party, he said.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, another potential presidential candidate, said a "course correction" was needed, while Mike Pompeo, who served as Trump's secretary of state, took a jab at Trump, a former reality TV star, when he said, "personalities and celebrity just aren’t going to get it done."

Haley implored the party to elect a new generation of leaders and said she was seriously considering a run.
"We're behind the times and we have to be honest with ourselves," Haley said.

Yep, the GOP manufactured outrage didn't work too well for them in 2020, nor in 2022. I don't expect many people to fall for it in future elections either.
